I'm disappointed as a Jets fan because the game was done and we were not coming back. It was an un-necessary hit, it could be leaving the Jets shorthanded for X number of games, more so given the other players that might be out. The hit hurts the Jets more than it hurts the Habs.
Was the game done? There was :57 left at the time of the goal. If they don't score that empty netter, it's game on.

I'm disappointed in him as well but I'm not going to pile on him. The refs called the result on that play.

The DOPS is a hot mess so who really knows what the hell they are going to do.

The hit was unnecessary and viscious but the more that comes out the more it looks like a legal hit that had disastrous consequences.
Definitely an unnecessary hit, given the score and time left, but it was legal and should not get further punishment just because of an injury.

Beaulieu will not be back, no need to vomit. However if Benn comes in before Heinola... well have at it.

On a lighter note if hair salons don't open soon i'm going to have to cut my own hair, like this.

Dude, you are literally staring at the MOTHER of all Dudeness options - simply emulate the Dude, yes? I would abide.

So if the hit was 1/2 way through the 2nd period, and Evans was trying to score with helle in the net and the game tied 2-2, is it still suspension worthy? How is it any different different when Buff leveled Stone?

Schief glided in, didn't leave his feet, and primary contact was the chest. Elbows stayed down.

Any player going back would be targeting the puck first for the reason you said. If they score it's over. If they don't there is still a chance. So you have to stop the puck first.

The puck left Evan's stick just before contact, so the puck was going in no matter what based on Chef hitting the man. If Chef went for the puck instead of man, would he have gotten to the puck in time? IMO, no. That was a goal and Chef wasn't stopping it.

If that same hit happens in center ice, it’s a clean hard check. This will outlaw checking.

The game was done as soon as Chef realized he was not going to prevent the EN goal and started to glide. Then, sadly he made the dumb choice to carry through with the hit anyway. I'm sure he never intended for the hit to be that consequential, and it may not have been an illegal hit...but that doesn't change the fact that the hit wasn't going to change the outcome. It was unnecessary, it was dumb and it may cost him at least a game...which we really can't afford.

Serious injury? Do you know something we don't? He definitely had his bell rung and apparently, he spent the night at the team's hotel. If he was seriously injured that would not have been the case.
Pardon me, I should’ve said “the guise of a serious injury.” Dude was carted off. People are gonna be emotional about that.

Pictures don't lie!
Shoulder down ... skates turned to slow down ... Evans body behind red line when hit is occurred.

Let's use examples for suspensions
Wheeler elbowed to the head misses games ... Tkachuk ZERO games.
Lowry hit to the head misses games ... Galchenyuk ZERO games.
I'm sorry but any Jet fan who thinks Scheifele should get suspended is NOT a fan.
This is playoff hockey if you don't like hitting go and watch women's hockey.

Aside from the hit, the Jets were pretty awful...after watching the Colorado-Vegas game though, I don't think there's any way we can hang with those teams. Hell, we can't really hang with the Habs.

he missed the hit by .3 seconds, there is no chance he was able to realize he wouldn't be able to stop the goal from happening

There were 2 Jets there... one should have dove to try and block the puck while the other one did what Scheif did... take the body to stop the player.
Scheif did his part... where was the effort from Pionk?

That's the same line I heard before the Oilers series.

And last night I was thinking the same thing, but according to the NHL rule book, none of that ( primary contact, elbows down, didn't jump ) has anything to do with a charging penalty. Charging is judged on different criteria.

When looking at a hit to the head or targeting the head, then those things do count, but that wasn't the penalty given.
