I don’t blame him for not cutting bait before the deadline. This is where Fitz has no acumen or foresight to see Nemec has been a ticking time bomb.
Fitz needed to cut loose from nemec way before the deadline, sometime between when he had a sulk attitude / dicey interview, to trade deadline. Now he can't move him till draft day, his value will plummet and we will get peanuts.
I feel he should be fired solely for not taking up the advantage of the cap space LTIR: a situation that doesn't come often, and sadly this team can't even turn jacks injury into at least a boost of morale by bringing medium or big name non-rental. Not moving Nemec after whats been going on (and resigning Kovy to boot to emphasize Nemec is not long term) seems like malpractice.
With the way the last 3 games ended, this team is so close to becoming a dumpster fire finish.
I don't think I would have been upset at this team losing last night, if they had gotten a point or two even from the Dallas game.
We've lost so many points, having a shitty D guy play like that last night really pisses me off, and mainly at him and Fitz.
But he absolutely needs to this offseason, before his value drops even more and he’s worth less the next offseason, where he’s bringing back something not good enough.
He’s a 2nd overall pick (and not a 7th) and a defenseman, so he will be worth more than Holtz was regardless, but they need to maximize it by sending him out this offseason.
His game last night was highly pathetic, if I’m allowed to say that because I didn’t “Watch the game” and only did the highlights for my goals review lol.
He played as badly as you would expect an emergency replacement (like a high school player) to on a some of those goals. And they were within minutes of each other. If that game was actually still within reach he would have been benched for at least the whole second half of the 3rd period.
