There is no way this team holds off the teams behind them to make the playoffs. Rangers CBJ Detroit Sens are all coming. How many games are we going to win scoring 1 goal per game and relying on this shitbag forward group ?

He also overpaid Haula, Palat is a bottom six guy playing top line because Fitz still left too many holes in the roster including the lack of a legit 3C…he was hoping Haula would be that in the same way Shero was hoping Cory would bounce back in 2019 lol

The team did need grit size and toughness though all of that was lacking. What changed after the playoff ko was the team legit stopped caring it was clear as day that playoff run two years ago they played hard whistlebto whistle down 2 goals? They would still be fighting. Then it just flipped and going down 1-0 they mailed it in

I don't think we hold them all off either but Detroit has been shit too though, on a 5 game losing streak.
 
Just watched the Keefe presser. Hot damn…he didn’t sugarcoat his feelings on Nemec’s game tonight. He sure was salty!! I would be surprised if Nemec isn’t traded in the offseason. I hope we keep Casey but with the logjam at RD, it’s not impossible they are both dealt.

Fitz left too many holes in the roster ..he rebuilt the defense twice, he rebuilt the goaltending twice he's went out and got the extra forwards each year...

At some point we have to acknowledge that the core isn't as good as we think it is ...I mean if we need high caliber players to just be competitive, maybe our high caliber players just aren't as good as we think they are?

Haula will hopefully go at the draft. Bastian and Lazar are UFA, can't see them being re-signed (Bastian particularly in a precarious position). Tatar also headed for the glue factory.

Palat is harder to shed. Awful contract.

Fitzgerald has no idea how to value trade pieces or contracts. This has been very clear for years and became undeniably true the past 2 years. That's kind of a big problem. It doesn't even matter if you get the right pieces if you constantly get bent over a barrel. You can only get away with that shit if you draft well. And...welp.

Ruff was completely outcoached by Rod the Bod. That and we had no choice but to pin our hopes on poor old Schmid.

A different coach and goalie, we could have taken them to 7 games. Who knows what happens after that (probably destroyed by Florida...)

I loved it tbh. You could tell he wanted to say more but held back.

Saying that player tonight doesn't belong in the league though, hot damn lol

Goaltending + coach + not playing Ryan Graves who handled the puck like my deceased grandmother when we had Luke. Besides Game 4, the Devils looked way better in Games 3 and 5 with Luke in the lineup than they did in Games 1 + 2. f***ing shame. It's also sad that we coddled Mercer in 2023 offseason instead of trading him for Helly. Would've been a way better timeline for us right now.

Signing Kovy today only made sense if Nemec was moving today as well. Fitz is so god damn stupid....I'm at a loss for how more people don't realize it.

They are predictably gonna end up selling incredibly low on a malcontent this summer....when every team knows you don't value him since you locked up 3 RD long term to begin with. I look forward to quoting this when the Fitz simps say "what choice did our God GM have?! He had no leverage. It isn't his fault". The idiot makes his own problems repeatedly.

Ruff wasn't out coached as much as we were beat up by a bigger more physical team. That first game in Raleigh really looked like children against men
