Just not good enough. Need more play like we saw in the 3rd on a regular basis.

They largely played not to get pumped, kept them in check 5v5 but sacrificed a lot of offense. This is what games are going to need to look like for the Jets to stay close.

Hate to say it but the Oilers are the better team even with Hellebuyck playing a good game tonite. They play defense and McDavid can out chance us offensively
I’m done We don’t even deserve to be the playoffs

The team has no finish at all right now. I thought the team was better then the Oilers at 5 on 5 but lost the special teams battle tonight.

Still a lot of real sloppy systems play and poor breakouts tonight.

Helle rebounded with a real nice game.

Morrissey was real strong I thought and had a real strong showing in the third. He was real poised with the puck as the game went on. I liked that he was activating a lot and going deep into the offensive end way more then usual. Poolman was mediocre again and wasn't good enough with the puck on his stick.

Forbert and Pionk weren't that noticeable both ways today which I will take.

DeMelo was so so and Benn wasn't that bad tonight.

Copp was and Appelton had very strong games on the top line and generated a lot of chances. They were both good defensively as well. Scheifele was fine tonight but has another gear in him offensively.

Ves, Dubois, and Perrault had a real solid game. I thought all of them played hard and kept the puck in the end most of the night. If they keep it up they will start deriving better looks at net. I liked the line a lot.

Stastny, Wheeler, and Conner where ok. Wheeler scored a goal and was hustling hard but he can't take that lazy double minor penalty. Stastny really should have had a couple tonight, needs to finish the point blank chances he had. Conner was fairly pedestrian.

Fourth line hustled and kept things in their end.

Jets played the right way better team 5 v 5 just in a slump and you don't get any bounces, won't last forever.

Our record of 2-7 against the Oilers this year suggests this was not an anomaly. Even when we play the "right way", we're not the winning team. This is not a slump, they just find the way to beat us and we have no answers.

BTW, in those 2 wins, we were only leading by a goal going into the last minute. We've also allowed a lot of goals in the last minute of periods against them, so we were by no means safe. We barely won.

Well on a night when you needed a good point shot to get on net Logan Stanley watched from the press box, and we came up with muffins. I liked 2 of our forward lines, but the team with the better defense and structure won.

Maurice earning his coaching stripes by losing at home. Keep losing boys, still a chance to be the 2nd worst playoff team. Who's looking good at #17 in the draft?

Can't generate anything off the rush - not enough speed through the Nzone.
And the meat and potatoes game in front of the net is fine with me - we had our opportunities in that area but couldn't finish.
Much better effort - game was close and PP goals were the difference.

Surprising we still have as big point lead over the Habs even after losing so many games straight.

In a way I can understand the lack of motivation from the Jets.

Why would they feel motivated to put in a solid effort when it won't be rewarded with extra ice-time or any actual recognition?

Carting Scheifele and Wheeler out again and again and again when they aren't playing well pisses me off and I'm just a guy on the sidelines. I can only imagine the feeling of it happening to my own detriment as a player.

Remember when Maurice didn't put Ehlers out for OT when he was playing like an absolute God against Toronto? Remember how Maurice put out Scheifele and Wheeler? Bad turnover, crappy back checking, Toronto goal.

How would you feel watching that if you were Nikolaj Ehlers? "DAMN, I should've been out there! I wanted this!"

What kind of example does that type of stuff set to the team?

Chance to tie it up on the PP, and pure garbage. Why is Appleton out to start the PP?

Not gonna win when your strategy involves your goalie making big saves to keep it close and certainly not gonna win if you can't score more than 1 goal.

Bench Scheif. Bring up Perfetti
Bench Sheif for what? Being the only line that out played the oilers all game. His line had a good game. Just no puck luck.

Positive: no goals against 5v5. Good third period.

Negative: Three low effort penalties by captain Wheeler who has clearly lost a step this year. The defenseman aside from Pionk and occasionally Morrisey are absolutely terrible at breaking the puck out, or doing anything positive in any area of the ice. Forbert is giving me Mark Stuart flashbacks. The team overall has low confidence, which you can see by how often they throw the puck away when they aren't under any pressure. Skilled players like Connor are just throwing away possession because they're scared of making a mistake. That's not how you win in the NHL. You have to take intelligent risks and make plays. They're playing scared.
