chevy has to sit down DeBoys and find out where his head is at, whethher he would considering resigning........and then there is wheeler, why are hanging on to this guy, yea he puts up personal stats but is he a winner, think not, especially after the dressing room fiasco of the past couple of seasons......hell would any team want him, there would obviously have to be salary retention if any team wanted him.

I think he's trying to get them back to playing like they did when we were missing a bunch of the stars - simple, fast and hard in all zones. The boys are not buying it though

Some are and some aren't. Really haven't liked Dubois and Conner lately. Both have been bad in their end.

Mark, Blake and Cole have generally done as asked but haven't had much to show for it on the score sheet.

The wheels have seemed to have fallen off some of our depth forwards and that has hurt us as well.

We need to add some depth skill and hope Dubois and Conner start cooking again and that pucks start going in more for Mark and Cole.

Well this was a showcase on how the NHL is trending and we got shown how elite teams play. The Devils play terrific hockey, fast skilled and hard.

Not really sure what to make of this team. Is this the team regressing to the bubble team many had them as or is this just a slump. Chevy must be pulling his hair out with regards to what to do this deadline.

Our PP is just bad and is killing the team right now.

He'll can't be faulted tonight

JoMo was hit and miss. Made some great plays but also a couple of uncharacteristic bad dzone plays. DeMelo was ok.

Pionk with his best game offe simply in ages. Was also much better transitioning the puck. Dillion was just ok.

Snerg had a bit of trouble with the Devils speed and Schmidt was decent.

Cole/Mark/Mason: They put up two goals and didn't spent as much time as the other lines in their end. I thought the line was solid.

Conner/Dubois/Saku: Saku is not a top 6 player but that wasn't the reason for that lines struggles. They generated nothing offensively and where a train wreck in their end. Piss poor job by this line.

Ehlers/Wheeler/Lowry: Hope Fly is ok as that was just a disgusting play by Smith. This line was solid but passed up way too many shots.

Fourth line played a hard game.

Ok we need to come out strong tomorrow and win the game.
Do you not think that kfc-pld are sick of not having a linemate? Svech has chemistry rhen eyssimont then perfetti apples etc and now they get a checker

Scheif is the same schief - he plays great to start and then it seems like he watches his passes for the rest of the game

Cant explain the jets and ehlers...

By the end of this season we will be talking about all the same mark scheifele issues as... well... every year except one

Faceoffs still a massive issue - this game should settle the debate about whether faceoffs are important or not

Jets outskated by a team that played last night... i guess we will outskate the rangers tomorrow?
Skating fast is a bit more important than face-offs. Ask Chef about Perfetti.

Someone has to convince PLD that backchecking is his game for 82 games a year. His offense will come from creating chances in transition. Unless he plays heavy Connor on his wing will be a liability because while Connor is a nifty guy with the stick her can't play a heavy game but he sure as hell can fly down the wing and create offense off a couple guys that play heavy.

They are professionals and everyone else in the top 6 has had to play with a bottom 6 linemate at point as well. Mark and Cole had to as well tonight and that line played well and had two goals.

Exactly. Dubois needs to take care of his end first and that includes making smart decisions with the puck to get it out. When PLD is off in his end the line sinks because Conner isn't very good and when he tries to do more tends to cough more pucks up.

In all honesty all of our top 6 forwards need to watch how the rookie plays off the puck. He makes the right reads and makes smart plays with the puck that help the team aleeve pressure and get out of their end.

I think we need more depth scoring on this team. Chevy has a job to do and recognize this, and pick up a couple guys that can score. There's guys out there like Reinhart, and Van Reimsdyk that are available. Lowry, Saku, and these Stenlund guys are big and good skaters, but can't put the puck in the net.

All in all these 2 teams are fast teams, and I'd give the edge to the Devils in that department, but that's not why we lost. The Jets made some bad turnovers, and the Devils capitalized on their chances. Their a good young team that has depth scoring, and that's where the Jets have to improve. Time for Chevy to do his job here.

I think it is obvious this team lacks conviction and character. Regression is the word of the night. This has been the case with this group slowly but surely for the last 15 games~
Bones must be losing more hair!

You guys need to leave that Leafs thread and get back here to discuss the Jets.

Maybe Kane is available.

I agree it's not everyone - but most.
I wouldn't just pull PLD and KC out of the pile - and keep in mind, I'm not looking at one game to support the call out.

When we were playing well (really well), Scheif, PLD, KC were dominant - and they are not any more.
They were also playing a different game at that time - they are now looking a lot like LY - not all the time but it slips back into the game here and there - sometimes for several games in a row.

That's the difference - consistency and complete buy in - I don't see it as a style with this group - more of a place they go after losing a few and then they remember.

Our bottom 6 used to be pure energy - not any more (eyssimount / axle were a big part of that). They didn't score but they set the tempo - they added the energy every time they stepped on the ice. Who's doing that now?

Our top bunch were playing a complete game - scoring and battling. They finished their checks and were always dangerous offensively. You barely see a hit from this group now and they are back to having real trouble entering the ozone as a group - and they forgot how to dump and chase (none of that tonight - but tons of neutral zone turnovers and cross up's on the blue line - turnovers.

The systems Bones wants from the guys is fading fast - they are looking more and more like a team that feels they can get it done on talent alone - meanwhile, they get picked off all night as they try to complete that pretty play. Nothing net front, weak board battles, slow slow slow through the neutral zone, ringers around the boards on the way out of their zone (turnover), nothing on the forecheck, less of a back check, flybys, and so on.

It's interesting that they are at least moving out there - so they don't look like they are floating - but they are cheating and the D game (or complete game) is becoming a faint memory.

JoMo is the exception - and Cole is somehow playing well in the middle of this.

Hate harping on the Jets - but there is trouble brewing at the worst possible time - and I thinks it's fair to call it out when you consider how well this bunch can play when they play the right way - and it's mainly on our best players IMO.

This is the first time I'm starting to feel Cheveldayoff is not a good GM. The issues on display today have been a problem for quite awhile and nothing has really been done to rectify them. I'm not sure why he is not bringing in help now and instead waiting for, what seems like, trade deadline.

It would be a big mistake to sit on this roster as is for another two weeks.

Jets play .500 hockey and finish with 96 points. Flames would need to play .650 going 17-9. That's never happened.

It’s why it’s a huge advantage to build up a lead early in the season like the Jets and the Stars did. Jets are going though a kind of win one lose one grind right now but they aren’t alone, Dallas got pumped by Columbus today and seem to be losing allot in OT. This is a tough league and all teams go through their stretches.
