I think he's doing ok , he's winning draws and that's very important for possession .

Yeah, I got that part. Important, but overrated aspect of playing C. I'm wondering about the finer points that I wasn't watching for.

When he played C before he did pretty well in the easy to see things, FO and even scoring. Closer inspection showed that he was defensively very weak. Just seemed a little lost at times. I didn't notice that today.

This team hasn’t looked disjointed or had defensive breakdowns in the last two games, so they may be over the hump now!

But it’s going to be hard to keep winning with the brain dead plays like the slap shot around the rink in the defensive zone. If they can clean those up, they can become good again!
Yes, they are actually showing some team will and survival in game with a want to win. Go Jets Go. 2 in a row. A good start to 20 in a row, eh! Dream big and...

Was listening to game on the radio as I walked around Stanley park with the baby. Watched the overtime at Beaver Lake in the middle of the park. Fabulous day it was sunny and low teens. Made better by the win.

I really like our radio guys.
30 miserable degrees here on Maui. I’ll muddle through. Gjg

He was ok ok thought. Maurice is definitely sheltering him a bit by using the Scheifele and Lowry units for the tougher matchups.

He is playing it safer but his positioning is obviously a bit off. What I like though is that he is better through the nz with the puck. As the third forward with two plahers ahead of him, he is looking to pass and gain zone entries with control. This has resulted in more offense off the rush. At wing he tends to chip and chase more.

Good win! The team is on the right track and gaining points on divisional rivals is always extra nice.

EWR looked decent.
CSL looked dangerous, and they can become something special, given time.
CLP were amazing.
4th line sid what was expected of them.
The D is entertaining. There’s never a dull moment when they have the puck. Morrissey was showing glimpses of returning to his own high level.
Helly was good.
The PP was good.
Maurice was good.
The win felt good.

I’m just so happy with the win. Think I would have gotten a bit depressed if they had lost that one as it would have put quite a dent in their playoffs race. I think the team will make the playoffs!

I thought his D game was better - less cheating on O and he's coming back with the play more so than when he was on wing.
It's like he understands the additional responsibility and playing a bit safe.
He's not the best positional center but he doesn't have to be if he's getting it done in his own end and leaves more of the line drive to Ehlers.
And Ehlers will need to keep his head up and watch out for his center who isn't necessarily in the places he should be - there was a bit of running around by all of them - Wheels challenge will be positioning in the O zone when you have a winger like Ehlers who is not an up and down player and tends to wonder.

He was really good with faceoffs - won a number of them clean and is using his size to out muscle in those scrummage face offs.

In a nutshell, he' playing it safe (or safer) and he's working hard - and that's a smart approach for a winger filling in the center slot.

Something we need to keep in mind in evaluating Wheeler at C is that we are going to have Wheeler in the top 6 somewhere regardless. Playing 2nd line reduces his minutes a bit, which is a good thing in itself. If playing C also makes him more defensively aware we are gaining there too even if he is not an ideal C.

I would still prefer to see Rosie getting a shot at 2C with Little out. Just swap him and Wheeler on that line. But the line seems to be functioning pretty well on the strength of the fit between Ehlers and Rosie.

Still unable to watch the games beyond highlights due to travel but just stat-watching... one has to wonder how sustainable the recent run of wins is. Stats are worse than than the Ottawa Senators of the last couple of seasons. Banking points is nice but unless Maurice fixes whatever is going on, it will all be futile.

The last games have been evenly fought and at times dominated by the Jets. What stats are you talking about? My eye test definitely doesn't agree with those, whatever they may be.
