Friedman: Jets are not rebuilding, want NHL players back if they trade core pieces

Jets fans, let’s revisit that Schmaltz trade shall we?

Schmaltz, and your history/record books.

For

Stanley, cap dump and a top 5 protected 1st.
Not interested in trading a 1st if Scheifele, Helle and Dubois are all possibly moving.

Ok. I'll play.

Helly + DeMelo for Savoie + UPL. After July 1, only if both have agreed to reasonable extensions.
If you add one of your seconds this year I'd consider it - other fans might not like it depending on how they view Savoie.

Jets management would probably need some kind of roster player coming back too even if they aren't that great

Don't hate it but I think we could hold to Demelo and get something like a late 1st or multiple picks for him at the deadline but Savoie would be solid for Helly

I find it interesting how obsessed you are about a player you Apparently don’t really care for and don’t have much value for. Every PLD thread you are there with post after post. You must be in The hundreds of post over the last year. This isn’t even a PLD thread until you and the Habs faithful turned it into a PLD thread like you guys do every time.
You are welcome! Thanks for your input! You are a peach! ;)

I don’t see how Dach is going to be a Centre with the Habs. Susuki is already in the top 6. Isn’t it expected the Habs take a Centre with their first pick this year? Where does that leave Dach? 3rd line?
Except he is a C with the Habs and finished the seaoas C. So there’s that…

Either way its moot. The Habs won't trade him in a PLD deal. Makes zero sense for the Habs for all the reasons you are unable to comprehend. See my messages. ;)

It’s never been ignored by habs fans, what has been ignored is the idea that because he has non Montreal teams that we need to give up a young piece Ala Suzuki or dach while rebuilding to get a guy who will be a ufa in a year. The consistent offer has been dvorak or Anderson, fla 1st + b tier d prospect. If another team beats that let them
Anderson will never waive for Winnipeg so forget that dream and that Florida 1st doesn’t hold the same value as it once did when those offers began. That leaves the offer severely lacking.

rofl, I don't think any actual thought was put into this.. and if pld was to sign a ridiculously low offer sheet and we were to trade him before then we wouldn't be taking a discount if anything pld @ 2.1 would give us a massive increase
The thing is they can trade him but it is suspected by the other gms that this path maybe taken it does lower his value as the chance for risk rises.

That’s in the ballpark though that doesn’t satisfy Chevy’s “compete now” mantra. I’d rather the Jets do something like this though (rebuild).

if the risk is that he is going to sign a ridiculous 2.1 million dollar offer sheet then every contending team that is up against the cap would glad welcome that "risk". give me a break with all this low ball offer sheet talk, any contending team that acquires him would gladly take a low ball offer sheet...

The money aspect is easiest part of a deal here. The question would be is how much does he want to get out of the Peg and to get to Montreal this season . People are putting up a road bl9ck that may not exist

He might be actually (if we are trading both Scheifele and Dubois this offseason) but we certainly would be getting something significant from Montreal, like Dach (along with Dvorak)
For the reasons you identified before, this obviously won’t happen. Makes zero sense for the Habs.

Savoie is all that, AND a bag of chips. You've seen him up close. He'll make your roster next year. So will Luukkonnen. For the Jets, this is a retool, not a rebuild.

From Buffalo's (my) perspective, it's all about timing. This would be all or nothing. Not one drop more or one drop less.

I'm surprised the fan base hasn't sent a posse out for my hide yet.

That said -- I doubt Adams offers anything close to this. I offered a fair trade based on needs, ability to deal, team trajectories, etc.

Makes sense that Montreal would trade Dach for PLD. Not sure the Jets do that without something added, as PLD is better and plays the more important position.

For Friedman's comments to make sense for the Jets (IMO), the NHL players than might come back from trading any of their 3 big assets should really be in the young category, maybe 22 or 23 max. Or, if the player is on the older side with much less term, that player holds very little value in the deal and the value in the deal is coming from picks or prospects.
