The wrong guy got a 3rd goal.
Very rare but I was at a BP with friends for the game.
The table beside us left early and something they had bought got them into a contest.
If Connor scored a goal from the point they got the laminated card of him (after he had already scored twice) until the end of the game... then you'd get to spin a wheel to win a prize.

He was so close to that empty net!!!!
Damn you Scheifele I wanted free stuff!!!!!! ;)

Really happy with the recent play, but I don’t think anyone can consider us a favorite, when we cannot beat Vegas.

Not "the" favorite, of course, but "a" favorite. Going into the weekend PlayNow had us listed 8th out of 32 and that seemed reasonable?

By "a favorite" I'm kind of going by a squishy standard of "a team that, if they won, you wouldn't be surprised"

Took a peek at the Leafs' thread hoping to see the bitterness and gnashing of teeth that is anticipated from that fanbase when losing to the Jets. Was surprised to find out that this wasn't the case.
Actually I think this board is more obsessed losing to the Leafs than Leaf fans losing to the Jets ... seriously its so childish.

Missed most of the game because, darn it, I had to work! Still followed along with all of you on HFJets, so I guess I wasn't working too hard. Great to see the Jets beat the Laffs, can't get enough of that! Even better to see Jets Nation invade Scotiabank Arena and show them what it's like. I give the game four "crying Laffs fans" out of five...

The Prediction Contest for the game against Ottawa has been posted for your guesses. I tabulated the points and do you know what?

Yes indeed, not just one but two trifectas today! Congratulations to @TheHead and @LowLefty for correctly predicting that the Jets would win 5-2 and that Kyle Connor would score the first goal of the game. Way to go you two!

The Jets don't play until Saturday, and that game is available if you would like to make a GDT. I hope that everyone has a Merry Christmas and I will see you all on the weekend! Good night...

Leafs fans take losing a lot better than we do here

Probably because they've had WAY more experience in all forms of losing... from games like today to crushing game 7 losses when they were up in the 3rd

Teams like this don't happen often, you should let yourself be way more positive about the Jets this season. They really can't do much better so far than they have.

Really! Enjoy this while we have it. The team is not perfect. The players and coaches are not perfect. The GM is not perfect. But the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. This is a really good team. I think it is better than the 2018 team, at least in the regular season.

We probably took a couple of teams by surprise in the first 15 games. No more. They are game planning for us, practicing for us, gunning for us - and we are still winning most of the time.

They haven't played great recently and were without Tanev, Matthews and Stolarz (who's been excellent this season). I'd like to think we'd be rational on here if the Jets lost against a top 5 team without Morrissey, Scheifele and Hellebuyck.

Both KC and Scheif have bought into the defensive part of the game. Both are mostly on the right side of the puck and a lot of their offense is coming off of good defensive play. Man I hope we are playing like this come mid April.
I’ve said this a few times, but this is exactly how they were both playing during our historic run. They have to continuously buy in for us to be this type of team.

And just like that the top team in the last 10 games in the league are the Winnipeg Jets with a record of 7-2-1.

Update: My bad ... Sens, Knights, and Oilers are 8-2-0

Looks like Heinola will get an extended look.
I really liked a lot of what I saw. He makes really quick decisions and has great passing.

Agreed it will ultimately come down to the playoffs, but game in and game out this regular season this one hell of a fun team to follow. They are playing a real fun brand of hockey to watch.
I’m honestly not even thinking about playoffs. I’m really just enjoying each game now.
