Eric Karlsson was minus 3 tonight and so noticeable for all the wrong reasons tonight. If I were a Pens fan, I would be so pissed about having that $10M anchor on my team.
Kyle Dubas may turn out to be a worse GM than Ron Hextall. Once the darling of analytical people in front offices. But thank you for Yager. That Karlsson trade was the one that really sunk the Pens.

I think the Jets should try and trade for Roman Josi ( R-dman) from Nashville. The Preds are off to a bad start this year, and down on their luck, so you never know if they would trade him off for some solid propects. He's a great defenceman.

???????
Exactly what we need.
A 34 year old D man that makes north of 9m and has 3 more seasons on his deal.
Also, he is a LHD.
No freaking clue...

Josi can play either side, and he`s a former Norris trophy winner, defending runner up. That`s dreaming big, but I`m pretty sure he`s a Predator for life now. HHoF down the road. Also has full no movement clause. Trotz is going to have some cleaning up to do, it`s easy to get guys to play in a tax free state in a city with a good standard of living, but it is not the first time the Preds have had to clean out the locker room after making big signings/acquistions. Something to be said about how you build a team.

Funny how at 17-3 you’re still having teams breathing down your neck

We aren't the only ones with a hot start so far.

Wild look really solid, they've built a competitive squad. Carolina seems to be perennial contenders now. NJ seems to have found their form this year, just needed some stability in net.

Just gotta keep on rolling, once we stack enough points we can coast a little, especially later on the season. Get some of the young guns in later on, rest up the big guns and hope to finally do some damage in the post-season.

They went far to old. They have a lot of old meat, that's nearing it's expiration date but still full price. They are likely going to have to slap some 50% of stickers on those slabs if they plan on moving a lot of them.

Stammer - 34 years old, $8m for 4 more years.
Marchessault - 33 years old, $5.5m for 5 more years.
ROR - 33 years old, $4.5m for 3 more years.
Josi - 34 years old, $9m for 4 more years.
Skjei - 30 years old, $7m for 7 more years.
Saros - 30 years old, $7.7m for 8 more years.

They are already have 2 buyouts and 2 retained contracts on the books. Gonna be tough to start a rebuild when your trade capital has so much term left.

Maybe but you look at the Jets they have two 31 year old stars starting the 1st year of their 7 year deals.

De Melo is 31 beginning the first year of a 4 year deal.

Morrissey is 29 with 4 years left, and you would think more in the tank.

Nino is 32 with 3 years left.

It will be interesting what kind of contracts Lowry and Namestnikov would re-sign in that 32,33 year old range.

I think it's chemistry with the Preds. Though the Stamkos and Marchessault contracts could easily age out as buyouts after the Johansen retention trade, Turris and Duchene buyouts.

When I realized that was Crosby that Connor knocked down I was pretty surprised.
Sid has major trees for legs.
Reverse hits can be really dangerous and cheap but Kyle's was just about knocking his guy off balance and sealing him from the puck.

Those bad ones usually involve the receiver the hit to get the back of a shoulder, elbow or helmet in the face... not cool.

Connor did land one decent punch so bravo to him.
I would say he did better than any fight I've seen Scheifele in :sarcasm:

No Pionk is terrible haven't you heard? The sheeeeets say so
Well... I liked him in his first year. He owned McDavid in the Canada year. He has been very, very good this year and was stellar tonight, an utter thorn in Pittsburgh's side. But there have been many, many bad games. Recency bias is dandy, but not representative overall. My opinion is ride him for all he's worth, but I'm not inclined to re-sign him at what he'll command.

Is that the Tyson fight??
Ali vs Frazier 1975. Long time ago. Thrilla in Manilla. Connor vs. Crosby was fun, but very brief. Kudos to both.

My prediction is Ehlers will resign. Seems loyal to the Jets if Chevy gives fair offer . Not to sure about Pionk. I think he wants top dollar in FA you know Chevy won’t overpay
