Then WTF is Ehlers always demoted? Connor is a Lady Bing winner for a reason…..soft and sometimes a floater.

Am I missing something? PoMo and Bones did/do the same thing to #27.
If Bowness doesn't like what he's been seeing out of the top line (although I thought it had some jump on Saturday, mostly due to scheifele and Ehlers)... How about going back to the top line combo that was putting the puck in the net through December? Did he like that?

I thought it was quite a good game, would really like for them to stop shooting from the point when nobody can shot but there were some really close deflections and sj was getting all the saves. Dominated them and felt like they were playing a playoff control possession game. Also please send Stanley to the moon

Yup, for the young guys it's all part of learning how to manage the ups and downs. Guys like Cole and Gabe will be better for it once they start scoring again. The good news is neither is cheating for offense despite their cold streaks.
I agree, but i believe psychological factors are at play here as well in the context of team play. So much emphasis is placed on system defence and team work for all lines the same way, and when your top lines lose thier speed all lines will in a team speed sense. I think this is what we saw in their slump. The Jets are shacking that slump now in the same way with decent team speed demonstrated today.

I didn't care for Vilardi's passing and board play today. He needs to be better.

I thought Cole played it a bit too safe in the ozone. He did create the one grade A chance but otherwise was holding up and going to the point or putting it back down low. Thought he could have been more aggressive with challenging the Sharks players. But he was good in his end and provided some good outlets for the dmen.

I can see what the second line is trying to do. They are trying to establish a cycle and open teams up that way. The players just aren't quite in sync with their rotations and switches.

Yeah. I kind of liked it to be honest. They had at least two full shifts entirely in the ozone. Well done considering none of them are particularly fast.

Yeah, they are starting to get a good amount of zone time. They just need to start turning it into more quality looks. I'm sure that will come with increased familiarity.

It`s really quite simple. Bones is without question keeping Connor with Scheif (ergo demoting Ehlers) because that`s exactly what Scheif wants. You may want to look up the quotes that Scheif made about how comfortable he is playing with Connor following tonites game. Suspect that Bones is doing everything to appease his number one center - period.

I’m well aware of 55’s desires to playing with 81, thank you very much. My question is when does the head coach stop neutering a top line because he doesn’t want to upset a player, it’s assine to do the same thing. Look up insanity and the old saying behind it.

Ehlers being demoted for Iafallo was likely part that Iafallo has had some success with them. We needed a change. Also, Ehlers can drive the play with the 4th line. Obviously the Lowry line wasn’t gonna split up and I didn’t see any reason to split the 2nd line up because then they’re playing on the 4th. Might see some line mixing but I see no reason. Like I was saying, at some point pucks will start going in and out S% will get back to the norm.

Ohhh boy. Someone pointed this out in an earlier post but the Jets aren't crashing the net. They dominated the game but the shots they took? They really weren't very threatening. Shot wide, shot over the net, deflected high...rarely a shot needed a Grade "A" save. Most shots registered were mostly uncontested and resulted in no rebounds. We need shots with obstructions, players in prime positions and not out of position, refrain from making one too many passes and blast the puck hoping for a rebound. Jets are trying to be too cute in the offensive zone. Stanley was tied for most Jets shots and he had the right mentality...a few of his shots created real opportunities. Jets offensive play right now is confused; they are stuck in the quagmire of their head. Could be a coaching issue. Who is the offensive coach? Neutral zone pressure has returned back to normal...tonight. Defensive play carries the day around here and it shows. Not going to fly against a high pressure forechecking team like the Canucks; one with neutral zone aggressiveness. We need a few more reckless risk takers on this team and a few less head cases.

The Jets better get their scoring act together, because when they play the really strong deep teams like Vegas, they will lose. They will win against a lot of the lower, middle, and upper middle tier teams with very low scoring, simply because they very seldom allow more than 2 goals against. They "must" get their scoring act together, in order to make a deep push in the playoffs. Their getting really good chances, but their just not finding the back of the net.

We're playing Vancouver next who are currently rated the top team in the NHL. Just like the Jets, they allow very few goals, but the difference is their scoring. This upcoming game will give us good insight as to where this team stands. If they don't start scoring, this will catch up to them in a bad way, with the top teams.

I see lots of Canucks game here and you are going to see a big difference on how the Canucks pass and shoot and why they are the #1 offence in the league.
When the Canucks make a pass in the offensive zone before the defenders can react ... they already made another pass or the shot is on net and there's a guy in front of the net banging in the rebound.
Also the shots from the point are not always slapshots but hard wrist shots and they don't waste time.
Hopefully the Jets can learn from them.
This should be a good game #1 offence vs #1 defence and we all know defence wins championships.
