Murat just asked Bowness about it and he said "it wasn't the 3rd it was what led up to the 3rd" with a bemused look on his face. Definitely about reducing Ehlers ice time and how better than putting him on the 4th.
I didn't see anything noteworthy in the first that Ehlers did. Hb the second?

I thought Ehlers was trying to force the puck a lot early in that game and it resulted in some Shark odd man counters. If we were playing against a team with talent they likely have a couple of goals from those.

It's has to be rare that all of your scoring dries up, nobody can score on the regular, it's has to improve cause winning the way they are has to be taxing, on the flip side defensively the Jets are playing exactly as you should in front of Helle
It's not that rare, it happens to many teams every year. I can remember multiple times where "Crosby hasn't had a point in x games", or "Patrick Kane hasn't had a point in x games". If your top players aren't scoring and your depth players are playing at even their usual pace, it looks bad. Connor will score, Scheifele will score, they're getting chances.

Monahan seems to be a good player but maybe not the player the Jets needed, it's still early for him with this team so I will give him the benefit of the doubt for now
I have been okay with his game. He has been much better defensively than I expected (atleast so far), part of it is the easier minutes, part of it is also the responsible line mates. But we're gonna need him to convert on some of these golden chances. The guy was pretty good about getting the puck in the net with the Habs but as soon as he joins the Jets he becomes snake bit, even couldn't convert the EN.

I didn't care for Vilardi's passing and board play today. He needs to be better.

I thought Cole played it a bit too safe in the ozone. He did create the one grade A chance but otherwise was holding up and going to the point or putting it back down low. Thought he could have been more aggressive with challenging the Sharks players. But he was good in his end and provided some good outlets for the dmen.

I can see what the second line is trying to do. They are trying to establish a cycle and open teams up that way. The players just aren't quite in sync with their rotations and switches.

I'm holding off my posting on him after some more gp. But will say I haven't seen him elevate that second line beyond the level it had been this season with Namestnikov, as of yet.

Yup, for the young guys it's all part of learning how to manage the ups and downs. Guys like Cole and Gabe will be better for it once they start scoring again. The good news is neither is cheating for offense despite their cold streaks.
