Thanks for the share. Love the quote about McDavid and Drais demands for perfection and winning. Those are type of guys you want to lead your team.

Puljujarvis jersey will be added to my collection in short order (waiting on a logn term deal)
And I love that Pulju doesn't take it personally. He has put aside his own pride and sees the bigger picture. That's a sign of maturity.

Again, not making this a huge deal and it's a long season to go, but Pulju ES production (both goals and points/60) has been even better than McDavid's so far so maybe he's not only a support player.

IMO you have to look at how players are keyed in on when comparing them. Every player on every team outside of Edmonton in the league is trying to shut McDavid down. That said, Jesse has been showing more gamebreaking ability lately and that is a great thing for our team. His last 2 goals have been great examples of this.

True, McDavid's game is definitely affected by that. But Pulju is also facing the toughest opponents due to playing in the 1st line and his defensive role takes some edge off from rushes etc.

Everyone keeps saying that Pulju is in such a great place, which of course is true, but it would also be nice to see him in a more offensive 2nd line role with 1st unit PP time. I don't mean to complain with the words "more offensive", I'm just wondering what his game would look like if he didn't need to think about the defensive side as much.

Islands in the stream.
What a shot last night on the break. Jesse just calmly picks a spot, feigns going elsewhere and just slots it shortside. Goalie truly didn't have a chance. Execute that well and its going in 9/10 times.

Hockey is a crazy game but Drai getting him the empty net goal games ago has paid off in spades. Jesse was asked if it kick started his confidence back and he's like "maybe, I guess so" Theres a mania in him it took a longwhile for me to adapt too but he has so much mirth for things. So many things just crack him up. Probably very good to loosen things up in the room. Tikkanen was like that, in a different way.

You could really see in bits again last night how Pulju draws opponing teams players on him when he’s flying thourgh the neutral zone creating space for others.

He’s getting respect from opposing players

He's making them pay when the don't. He's actually doing a great job getting open in space. On the play in the first where he couldn't get a shot and the play where DeKeyser got his stick on the pass, he found a soft spot to create a good chance. He's a damned good player.

I know it's dangerous to re-sign him while he's going this hot to start the year, but if you decide he's part of the team going forward, give him the extension and you know what you're working with cap wise into the offseason.

He scored last night but he had a few opportunities yesterday early in the game that he needs to bury. Get one or two of those and we could've had a W possibly

Honestly, he probably doesn't get that chance without an injury to one of the big 2 or more depth so that we can toy with putting Pulju on his own line to drive his own line. I'll take what he brings now with flashes of brilliance like he has shown, it is a winning formula IMO.

It would be interesting if the Oilers tried him as a line driver for his own line and he succeeded. His price would go up even more than when playing with McDavid and getting points there. Obviously you could always trade him then, but I'm pretty sure other teams would try to attribute his points to McDrai and thus lower his value.

Not trying to put Pulju down, but is it really a good idea to give him responsibility to drive his own line right now? I mean, there's a good to fair chance that he's going to be the kind of player who can, at least at times, carry a scoring line. But so far it seems this set-up is working for Oilers and Jesse's confidence.

Playing alongside Drai and McDavid as the "responsible third wheel" is doing great things for him. He'll get his opportunities and goals/points and he has a chance to mature his offensive game more and more.

Although, ultimately I think Pulju (or whoever is going to be the third big F wheel in the Oilers long term) will need to be able to drive his own line. He doesn't have to be Drai/McDavid level offensive juggernaut, but chip in offensively and check out the opponents. Come playoff time it's a huge benefit. Rolling three efficient lines will grind out most of the opponents in 7 game series.

It's good McDavid shows passion and we have to believe Pulju is fine with sometimes pretty intense feedback (as he said), but I hope and believe McD appreciates Pulju's hard work to help him. Pulju's consistency has been good but inevitably there will be some more difficult shifts or games. Even the best player in the world has those sometimes.

While I think McD and Pulju are great for each other I'd also like to see Drai, Pulju and maybe Nuge together. I feel there is a great bond between Drai and him and I think playing with Drai and Nuge would give Pulju a bit more offensive freedom and encourage him to do his own things.

Twitter and Facebook ahahah

Okay. I thought I've honestly missed something (like I did) or maybe you were hinting towards my message, which I didn't believe you would do :)

As long as they clean the air afterwards if needed I don't care. I'm sure McDavid is aware of how hard Pulju is working for not just himself but also McDavid and when his emotions settle he realizes it's impossible to do everything perfectly or just as he wishes every time.

On the other hand Pulju himself said he understands sometimes the emotion makes people say things harshly and he's fine with it. And while I'm not sure this is necessarily the best way at least things get said so they can continue developing their chemistry.

Twitter and Facebook ahahah

Any comments from anyone on Facebook or Twitter should be considered coming from "fans." The amount of astoundingly dumb shit I see on there indicates to me that most of those folks don't really know anything about hockey.

Anyone offended that the Captain of a sports team got animated with a teammate knows nothing about sports, period. This can be said definitively IMO.

The reason Messier was so revered (at least when on the Oilers) was because he was the type of leader to tell you when/how/why you're f***ing up, so you don't do it again. This is how you progress, in any facet of life.

McDavid is a leader and he's showing it. JP isn't a child, he'll take the info and develop with it.
