Carlsson is the far safer pick and progressing nicely. At this point in time I would take Carlsson.

It is good to remember that Aho and Puljujärvi had all their success with meidän peli playbook which besides promoting talent like in Aho's case can also mask weaknesses.

I don't think I've posted this before here, beast of a game from the kids line.

Beauty defensive play from Pulju 1.52->.

Six faceoffs is an insufficient sample size for making any sort of reliable conclusion of Pulju's faceoff capabilities.

True, I can see him potentially being deployed in the same way that Jamie Benn is.

Where he takes the faceoff on his strong side and then plays wing, atleast I believe that is the case

This was great to watch. Defiantly love seeing Puljujarvi plays that arent the typical highlight packages

His speed/size/skill on the wing is going to be a revelation to watch.

His ability to play at high speeds like this will bode well for a future McLinemate.
What a team.

The whole body of work during the PP leading up to his second goal was a treat to watch culminating to the display of his high end offensive IQ. He knew exactly how the play was going to develop as he parked in front of the net seconds prior to actually receiving the pass.

Another impressive defensive play there at the end when the Czech were playing with 6 attackers.

His been skating about three four weeks now so I would say he is healthy.

Rookie camps aside, it is sad that all of McD, Nuge and Drai possibly miss the start of the training camp because of the World Cup. Luckily there are many teams who are battling with the same problem. Let's hope that atleast one of them (propably Drai) can start creating chemistry with Jesse asap.

If he's ready, I'd love to see some chemistry between Drai and Pulju getting other teams bottom 6 match ups. They would be sheltered with McDavid and RNHs lines drawing the tougher match ups.

Guys like Lander and Khaira should be salivating at the opportunity to play with better wingers than they'd normally get to play with.

I think this could potentially work out really well, give's puljujarvi a chance to learn the NHL game while not getting top tier matchups, and give's them a chance to feast on lesser opposition.

Euro team doesn't look that great(sorry Dra), would expect them to drop as soon as possible, which would leave Dra and Pulju plenty of time to train together.

But if I may ask when is Pulju expected to be in Edmonton, will there be any video from prospect games, and how much video/reports can one expect from pre season time?

Not sure when he'll be in Edmonton, but there should be streams of the rookie tournament in Penticton on the Oilers site and some fans that post on here usually make the trip or live there and give some reports of their perspectives.

Same goes for pre-season, there's usually streams on the Oilers site. Not sure if the streams will be blacked out for certain regions or not though.

Also there should be a stream, albeit poor quality, from the rookie game vs. the Golden Bears (Edmonton's CIS university team). I know I'll be going to that game and a lot of others probably will be too.

Yes thank you.

Prospect tourney/pre season time is difficult for us Europeans and sadly those are highly interesting as we get to see these prospects for the 1st time in NHL ice.
I don't mind if they are poor quality, just as long I can watch the games

(just a month left :handclap: )

Yeah for sure I think a lot of people are excited to see Puljujarvi in that tournament. The games in Penticton should be decent enough quality, I was just referring to the Golden Bears game which will be poor quality. The game is at Claire Drake arena this year, the University's rink where its normally held (it was at Rexall last year because of McDavid, and therefore the stream quality was better) and they basically stream it on a pretty terrible camera with not the greatest angle of the ice.

Should definitely be able to get some good viewings of him in that tournament and preseason though as long as there aren't regional blackouts on the streams.

Does anyone else start to smile and chuckle to themselves thinking about Dr. Drai and Pulju being on the 3rd line together?

The bottom 6 in the Pacific can be exposed. If players with Pulju and Dr. Drai's size/skillset end up developing chemistry, look out Cali teams. Your 3rd line is getting victimized.

The hype is very underwhelming for this guy, i guess it´s coz you have McDavid.

This is your second best prospect this millenium

Sure.. adjustment period, but he really should play with the best line very soon.

After having 4 first OA picks and a few more in the top 10 I have a hard time hyping Poolparty up to be our second best prospect this millennium. I hope your right but guys like Hall and Yakupov had quite a bit of hype and went 1st in the draft. If he turns out to be a big bodied 1st line winger I will be happy.

I just watched a ton of highlight videos from him and I think that the ability to draft him also helped to seal Hall's fate. I don't see Hall being able to do any one thing better than Puljujarvi with the exception of top end straight away speed and Puljujarvi is far from a slow guy himself.

I'd say that Puljujarvi has better hands, a better shot in terms of wrist and slap shots (at least accuracy wise), is bigger and more physical, plays away from the puck better and while it's too early for me to say for sure, he may think the game better as well (his play away from the puck points to this IMO). Naturally I don't expect him to replace Hall this season as that'd be unfair to any non generational 18 year old, but in 1-2 years time this guy should be a high end offensive player at this level.

Both have good onetimers although since Hall carries the puck so much at ES he only really uses them on the PP when he's on the half wall and the puck is moved around a bit more and there's more space out there.

I'm not sure if Puljujarvi tops Hall's best season production wise or not but I think that he will be a better player for us on a better team than Hall ever got to play on in the NHL and his skill set should gel with McDavid more than Hall's did.

I also wonder if we might see Jesse on the point on the first PP unit because he has a good clapper and one timer across form McDavid?

There is no real way to compare Hall to JP. Such different players.

Hall is all offense has an extra gear and is aggressive to the point of recklace. JP is way more rounded and while I wouldn't be surprised if JP is a better goal scorer I highly doubt he will ever drive the play as well as Hall does.

But I agree I think people don't realize how much JP helped make Hall extendible. Combined with Lucic and Larsson I think people are far more upset than they should be. Our team for the next 5 years is considerably better because of the trade and JP.

When is the last time that you saw a "reckless" Hall? Earlier in his career? sure. Lately? Not so much.
