Carolina is a good team and they were the better team tonight ... that's it. The other night Carolina was shutout by the Canucks.
Every night is different and its a long season just look at the standings ... a team is in second one week and the next week they are out of the playoff spot.

Yes, I hear what your saying, and agree with a lot of it, however Carolina made us look pretty bad. I hope we can chalk this up to a bad game, but that Carolina team is really good.

The way it looked tonight--is that if we played them in a 7 game series--we'd be "lucky" to win 2 games. With that being said --over the last 2 years, we've had a great record against them.

I'll reserve judgment here -- but that Cane team is very good --and a hard grinding team. You have to "work hard" to beat them. They don't give you anything for free--you have to bust your butt to beat them. They are impressive.

Forget about this one and stomp the Hawks.

I agree --it be nice to stomp the Hawks -- but you have to be very concerned about how the Jets were totally overwhelmed by the Canes. Every team has a bad night --so let's hope that's all this was. This game does make me wonder, what we really have here ?? I guess we'll see over the long run.

I don't like blow out games ... teams get relaxed or bad breaks go against you the next game. I like the one goal game ... the team can't relax and they never stop skating.
GNP let it go its not the end of the season ... lots of hockey left.:D

Jets did a pretty good job of keeping the 'domination' to the outside until the loser refs showed up big in the second.

I was referring to the regression of the Jets SH% and SV% which have been sky high this month. They weren't going to sustain 12% shooting and a .950 SV% forever...

Again... that was regression. It was low on the season, now it's average on the season. Don't dwell on calendar months.

I was clenching every time the Scheifele line was on the ice and the puck was on the Jets side of the red line. Laine has gotten much better this season with his puck management and making the right pass when given time and space but his boardwork in tight under pressure was simply awful tonight, the same was ailing Connor as well.

The Jets D could not keep up tonight.

At this point it should be pretty obvious that statements about Wheeler's demise were premature. He should be kept away from Laine and Scheifele even if we get healthy.

I was at the game tonight, making section 304 a little rowdier.

Turning point was Svetchnikov's goal, right after the trip on Lowry. Up to that point momentum was pretty even.

Carolina had a good game plan. Went to the net hard. The Slavin-Hamilton pairing really impressed me. Mrazek made key saves in the game, and had the bounces go his way when beaten.

I didn't like Laine's effort tonight, and Scheifele was predictable in passing the puck off. 4th line was weak, and Bourque didn't impress me on the 3rd line. I think Appleton would be a better fit short term. Bitetto in particular struggled with puck. If Niku was healthy that would be his opportunity knocking.

Not sure if you need to panic after this one.

Go back to the game plan, against an opponent the team knows a little better.

Had great seats the first was good and evenly matched.
The second we barely had any ozone time.
Carolina beat us to most pucks.
Just an off night.
I think Chicago will pay dearly.
You seriously need to stop going to games , free tickets or not . Mr. O'fer

Ok bad game , Helly was not sharp and seemed to have trouble tracking the puck last night . Hopefully the next time we play Carolina we have some of our injured players back . Replacing BooBoo with a healthy Buff would be a massive upgrade to the defense , BooBoo is horrible . Carolina is a fast team and a good team but i think when healthy we can beat these guys . Definitely need to get the PK going , change up Connor , he shouldn't be killing penalties same as BooBoo . Man BooBoo is a horrible defenseman . Let's kick ass on Thursday against the Hawks .

Our defensive system is super passive. Canes are fast team with really aggressive forecheck. They had extended periods of ozone time not because of our play on boards but on our play without the puck.

Canes really set up tempo and showed where is the level of true top5 teams of the NHL. Hopefully Maurice does his homework.

About the players. First line didn't stand chance against Aho line. Our bottom forwards filled their role. At home I'd think we'd need better matchups.

Ha,
Not happening.
The first several seasons I had a good record.
I’m due for a bounce back season.
The freebies I get are usually the mid week pre Christmas or February blahs against non conference teams.
I’m a proud & cheap Winnipegger I have not paid for a game yet.
Chipman is o’fer against me.

Sunday we destroyed the Flyers and the post game thread was quite.

If you didn’t post when we won by a blow out hopefully you stay away tonight but sadly that won’t be the case.
Everyone is welcome to participate, and some of the worst complainers wrote some funny stuff ;)

This was my two favourite teams battling against each other, and although the wrong team won (Jets are #1!) I enjoyed the game. The Canes are deep on puck moving defensemen, and that was the differentiating factor in this game. To much speed and quick transitions for the Jets to handle. We are a Niku and top 4 dman away from being at the same level with the Canes.

Wheeler has reinvented himself as a center who plays below the puck in his own zone and hustles to catch up to the play through the neutral zone. Completely has changed his image in our half of the ice. I am loving it.

Positive takes on this:
-We won the corsi

Y’know, I haven’t seen people bring up Corsi in a long time. People would rave about Corsi and would be very satisfied if we had a good Corsi (even if we lost).

When did that go out of style? Did xGF% overtake it?

Amusingly enough, the elite teams rank poorly on xGF%. ;)

Scheif could really take a few pointers from Wheeler in this regard. Wheeler has been playing fantastic 5v5. I'm not singling out Chef in this game though, Laine and Connor were terrible in their own end.

A few things clearly in view tonight.

The Jets' D really struggled vs. speed. They just don't move or react quickly enough against very quick teams. Sbisa and Beaulieu were particularly exposed, and Poolman had struggles.

Beaulieu is very gaffe-prone. Even when he generally plays okay, he makes terrible errors at times that lead to great chances and goals. It's what will drive him out of the NHL.

Connor is comically bad at zone exits. Another flurry of inept failures, with at least one leading to extended D zone time and a goal against. Tonight, Laine joined him in the goofy zone clear follies. Scheifele isn't going to back them up, so disaster is always lurking when they are in their own zone.

Good summary. Not just for last nights game, applies on most nights. Helle just didn't bail out the team last night. If he puts up a 0.930 we win that game.

Full marks for the Canes, they earned the 2pts.

Didn't hate all of the Jets play even with the score. Main concerns are not new problems for the Jets. The PK is terrible, and D zone coverage becomes a tire fire at times with players running around.

Not going to lay it all on the D, but it's not a secret our D is weak.
