Byfuglien started rehab, so that's good news

Seriously though, that Svetchnikov trick play really seemed to spark the Jets, but we needed that save on the Aho breakaway and didn't get it (not blaming Helle)

If I was the defenseman on the ice when that lacrosse goal happened I would have gotten suspended.

Yeah, I'm a dinosaur, but something about plays like that really irk me.

Anyway, on to the next one.

Sunday we destroyed the Flyers and the post game thread was quite.

If you didn’t post when we won by a blow out hopefully you stay away tonight but sadly that won’t be the case.

Is this a bad time to talk about regression? :sarcasm:

I thought the first period was pretty good but things kinda went downhill from there.
Jets had a higher xGF% than Carolina tonight, even adjusted for the score and venue.

Had great seats the first was good and evenly matched.
The second we barely had any ozone time.
Carolina beat us to most pucks.
Just an off night.
I think Chicago will pay dearly.

I did notice that.

I didn't mind our game tonight. They are a better team. They played well. I thought we were playing really well at 3-2 though. And the third goal was a direct result of a blown call. But I'm fine losing to the Canes and beating the Hawks, Wild and Habs heading into the break.

At a high level, I thought the forwards were enjoying the pace of the game and adjusting to it well; whereas the Bitettos/Sbisas/Bowl-Us of the world might have been a bit overwhelmed.

A few things clearly in view tonight.

The Jets' D really struggled vs. speed. They just don't move or react quickly enough against very quick teams. Sbisa and Beaulieu were particularly exposed, and Poolman had struggles.

Beaulieu is very gaffe-prone. Even when he generally plays okay, he makes terrible errors at times that lead to great chances and goals. It's what will drive him out of the NHL.

Connor is comically bad at zone exits. Another flurry of inept failures, with at least one leading to extended D zone time and a goal against. Tonight, Laine joined him in the goofy zone clear follies. Scheifele isn't going to back them up, so disaster is always lurking when they are in their own zone.

Well that wasn't too good. Canes are a darn good team but we made too many dumb mistakes.

Helle - Couldn't bail the team out today but had little in the way of help.

Pionk had a pretty poor night, was out of position on both ES and the PK. He also got schooled a few times. Everyone is due a bad game and this was it for him.

JoMo - Was solid defensively but didn't get much going offensively.

Psia was ok

Poolman, Beau, Bietto were all AHL quality tonight

Forwards:

Connor and Laine were awful along the walls in our end tonight. Laine has generally been ok there this year but Connor has been awful all year, Maurice needs to send a message. Scheifele was mediocre all over the ice tonight.

Wheeler /Ehlers/Roslovic all played fairly well today.

Copp seemed to not play half the game and putting another fringe forward on Lowry's line just handcuffed him.

Fourth line was ok.

If Copp is out along with Perrault it puts a lot of pressure on Lowry to carry the bottom 6. Couple that with our lack of defensive depth and this team is going to be stretched over the next while.

On the coaching front the PK still looks like an absolute mess. We are letting players stand alone uncontested in the slot and giving up high grade chances all over the ice. This needs to be fixed by our coaching staff.

Winnipeg, Manitoba,
Have to admit, turned off the tube after 2, as I had some work to do.

Boys just didn’t have it tonight, having said that...talk about a TSN turning point on that missed trip and Svechnikov goal. 2-2 game and we have the PP vs down 1 w/o PP.
We score on the PP and who knows if Carolina changes their game playing from behind. A lot of “what ifs” but not really going to lose sleep over this one. (Carolina looks great)

Also, all I heard was awkward hit on Copp, but did not see it. Is he concussed? That’s a big loss, he may not be burying his chances, but man are he and Lowry good at shutting down teams.

Decent game but annoying that we couldn't make saves
I couldn't see Hellebuyck on the bench in the third - is there a reason for that?

Watching that game --you have to wonder ?? are the Canes that much better than they looked against the Jets?? or were we just outworked ?

It sure looked to me, that there were Cane guys all over our guys, everytime we touched the puck.

At this point in time, you'd have to say Carolina is the better team, but I'd like to see a couple more games before concluding that.

Difference was on the blue line, pretty obvious. Otherwise the Jets were there, missing Perreault and then Copp for half the game didn’t help, especially with the pace the Canes play at.

Trip on Lowry before the goal was a farce.

I was referring to the regression of the Jets SH% and SV% which have been sky high this month. They weren't going to sustain 12% shooting and a .950 SV% forever...

Carolina is a good team and they were the better team tonight ... that's it. The other night Carolina was shutout by the Canucks.
Every night is different and its a long season just look at the standings ... a team is in second one week and the next week they are out of the playoff spot.
