Jeremy Swayman

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

It’s weird that, as a fan from afar, you put so much stock into your judgment on someone as a person. Like, you see a sliver of that guys (and any other players’) actual life.

Maybe I’ve missed the evidence (and if so I’d like it pointed out to me), but can I get something above rampant speculation that the team, management, and/or coaches has a definitive resentment for Swayman’s actions in holding out this summer?

I find it truly bizarre how everyone seemed so entrenched in how he was a “great guy” (assumingly based mostly off of his friendly relationship with Linus Ullmark among other sound bites) but now so many have “turned” on him because he decided to hold out for the most money. We don’t know the guy. We don’t know how his teammates feel about him.

And while we’re at it, what did Tuukka do? To make you not a fan of him “off the ice”? (Another remarkably bizarre statement).
Tuuka was not bizarre, was witnessed, and selfish and all the years that I have watched Bruins players they were always top notch with the fans, this guy was not, not going to say anymore, other than he should take a lesson from Rick Middleton, on relationships with fans. I don't have a resentment for a player getting what he feels he deserves, but I do not believe he carried himself well in the negotiations, sometimes the less said might have been the best way to handle it all and when you fail, take the heat that you asked for. This team in my opinion was not good and it started in the offseason.

Yes the team not being good began with a completely speculative judgment of one player’s personality and not the objectively fallible roster.

Ok young man. We were hard on you, and you've showing some push back. I think everyone is ready to forgive. Light it up!

I wonder how Sweeney and Neely are feeling about Swayman right now. He better get his act together quick; summer is coming and it would not surprise me to hear Sweeney is listening to offers on Swayman. Especially, if Sweeney feels he has options.

I make it a priority to move him any way I can, even retaining a little for the duration. You aren't going anywhere with him. He won't regain his form, because he never had it. He's always played as the back-up. His "run" last year was just one round against Toronto. So many games lost just because of his poor play. So many shots beat him when he just goes all shooter-tutor and plays the percentages. He's too small to not fight for every puck, and too many leaky goals sneak through. 2023 game 7 was shockingly bad.

Great two games against Florida & Tampa.

I would sit him Thursday night v Ottawa and go wound Korpi

Great to see him back on track

Last night solidified it for me. My un-expert opinion is the Bruins can't have this guy as their
main goalie for the next 7 seasons. I hope I'm wrong, but he needs to not attain no trade
status on this team.

I agree but if it gets to the point where the Bruins are looking to trade him because of performance issues, even if without a trade clause who's going to want that contract?

Wouldn't that make him not worth the contract he signed?
Never thought it was a good idea to give him that contract. While you need a good goalie it’s very rare a goalie looks good in spite of his team. They are usually only as good as thier team. It’s why you see average goalies winning the cup. But hardly ever see a bad team win the cup because of their goalie. Most are in the hall of fame and rare.

What last night proved is possibly showing that he can’t play the bulk of games and needs to have a more even split with another goalie
What's Korpisalo make?...around $3 mil/yr??

Maybe Swayman should split some of his $8.25 with Korpi :sarcasm:

Yup, definitely can’t handle the workload. Played well in the 2 games leading up to last night, then just looked brutal in a must win. The 1st one was bad, but the 4th goal was unacceptable. Misplays the puck, and then gives up a soft rebound on a nothing play that leads to a tap in. He was checked out and I would’ve yanked him right there instead of waiting for the period. Korpi comes in, and battles. Was making desperation saves and looked sharper. Easy to 2nd guess, but they would’ve won last night if Korpi started, as bad as they were in the 1st. Swayman hasn’t been good all year vs the Sens.
