One could make the argument that we're beating a dead horse here.

So be it. Discuss, if you so choose. We'll keep all the Swayman talk contained to this thread.

If you have nothing meaningful to contribute to the conversation, move along.

We will not have this devolve into thread hijacking and flaming of other posters.

@Gee Wally

We have numerous deletions and more in here. We know tension and emotions are high.
But you folks must simply stop taking personal shots at each. Stay to topic.

If not we will be left with no choice other than adding thread bans.

While I already posted these exact numbers in the thread earlier, I disagree with this statement Frank makes:

There are ways to make up the lost money to Swayman - by providing him with instantly paid signing bonuses in Year 1.

While there is some truth, like paying him league minimum in year one with a massive signing bonus to make up for lost money, it doesn't really change the cap equation based on 8 X 8 at all. What it does do is affect the contract for the next 7 years as you can only have X amount of difference in a contract salary from year to year.

I also disagree with the statement that the Bruins can bank enough cap space to make up the difference. Thanks to @MarchysNoseKnows asking the difficult question, I've already proven mathematically, they can't.

Monday 5 pm kids.
Teams must teams must submit their season-opening roster by 5 o’clock on Monday, the first of 192 days of salary cap counting for the 2024-25 regular season.

Expect at least one last offer by the Bruins. 8.2 is my guess if they do which on Cam's calculator for 8 years is rounded out to 70 million reasons:sarcasm:
A handy chart.
Snip it. Put it in your wallet.

You're allowed to buyout a player, so you don't have to 100% live with it.
It still needs to be paid, and it
Rangers should give Shesterkin $13.5M right? All that matters is that he’s the goalie for them. Who cares if you have to get rid of other players to fit him in. As long as he’s on the team and gets whatever he wants.

I think that is a great idea, then if he fails, he has a built-in excuse for his loyalist, he has does not have anyone in front of him.

What’s a million here and a million there? If the player wants it and it makes him happy we should always give it to him. We should do it for Frederic, and Lohrei, and Poitras when they come up because they’re important pieces. Geekie gets 20 this year - should give him what he wants. It’s only $1M.
I certainly remember your criticism this past July 1. And I'm sure yo ripped the Backes signing.

Yes I know.. UFAs., but so what "what's a million here and a million there?"

I do think Monday at 5 pm is a deadline.

Gross is a tax specialist I’m guessing they are figuring out structure here
Really? Ok I'm out on Swayman and Gross. Anyone who spends their lives dealing with taxes can't be trusted!!!

I didn’t want them to sign Zadorov and I didn’t like the Backes signing. But so what?

I’ve been for Sway getting 8x$8M all along.

Maybe he is but building 4 solid lines and a balanced D can make a 5-6 million goalie look good
Do the B's have 4 solid lines?

Don't you think if a team struggles to score than it's super dupery important to have better than replacement level goaltending?

You just don't get it, the question remains can he be the guy and carry the load with no fall back like Ullmark when it gets tough. From what I, see his mental toughness maybe should be questioned with they he folds up in a fetal position because someone was mean to him, what is going to be like when he has a rough patch, and now you know the fans are going to let him hear it after all this bullshit.

If we are questioning the mental toughness of a goalie who had a .933 sv% and 2.15 GAA in the playoffs..

I’d love to hear your opinion on the rest of the teams mental toughness when scoring 2 goals or less in 9 out of 13 playoff games this year.

I am not understanding Swayman's thinking. After the 64 million comment I thought that he would continue pouting for about 48 hours and then sign. Now I don't get it. With the extra cap hits after Monday he has to have used his newly acquired business education to know that the Bruins will not be able to take on the higher cap hits if he does not sign soon.

I'm more of a top 6, solid D and top goalie...call it the Florida model if you will.

Guessing there is more than "64 million" than meets the eye. Lots of structure/clause things to work out. Like I have been saying look for 8-8.5 at some point.

Bulldog on the ice, Cupcake off the ice.
The rest of the team took the SC camps to 7 games after being down 3-1. Getting pounded every game. I think our definition of toughness are different.

Imagine if he gets 8+, performs as well or better than Shesterkin who signs a contract for millions more? That's the rub, what is his potential, flaming out or doing really well? Don't most people think he'll do well?
Both are his potential....look back at every draft "most people" think the top 5 picks are going to be studs
Sometimes they are sometimes they aren't

He is using his business acumen.

He knows the Bruins can go as high as $10.2 million for him and a 13th forward, depending on how the Bruins play the roster.
