He’s better than the AHL. Probably best DMan on both teams tonight
What are we going to do with all these rookie dmen???

Next year's starting 6???
Guhle - Barron
Xhekaj - Struble
Harris - Kovacevic

And many are saying Mailloux will be NHL ready already in the fall...

Mailloux is not NHL ready, still needs a year or 2 in Laval, maybe more depending on his adaptation. He's not there yet, Struble also needs time IMO.

Maybe. Many are saying they wouldn't be surprised if he makes the team out of camp.

But perhaps it will be fall 2024 that the log jam really starts bursting at the seams.

Said it before will say it again, if this guy van stay healthy he will 100% be an NHLer. Reocurring groin injuries are a concern though.
The problem was properly diagnosed and fixed last off season, apparently. I can't remember where I read it but I'm pretty positive that's the case. It was a chronic thing, like Crosby's neck issue years ago.

For some reasons, I just realized the AHL doesn't show the icetime stat among the others (wtf).

Anyone know if he played a lot ? Didn't watch the game.

It's nice to read such positive reviews. The less flashy guys don't get as much talk as the flashier dmen, but they end up being really important for team success and to make the flashier dmen stand out.

From the sounds of Struble's game, it sounds like his skating egregious physicality really stand out, kind of like fan favorites Emelin and Romanov.

Right now we just have what appears to be a large pool of pretty talented prospects and young guys. It's one thing to have a whole bunch of capable bottom pair guys, and it's another thing for there to be 3 guys to take the no.1, 2 and 3 spots in the D. Of the guys up, Barron and especially Guhle are holding the most promise, though I think Wifi is a possible sleeper in terms of upside.

So we should just keep doing BPA and adding to the D prospects. If we ever do have an abundance at the NHL level, then we trade from strength.

Been hoping we get that type of luxury for the last 15 years, and we're nearly there, still pretty much exactly what Hughes did to acquire Dach, and while I loved Romanov, with all those young dmen we had this year, I didn't exactly miss him, while Dach was a dire need up front.

I guess we can expect another one to be traded in the next 2 years, at the very least, cause at some point, we can't ice all of them, nor can we ice only rookies on the back-end.

Oh we'll have an abundance of NHL level D.

And I'm glad we'll have Hughes to manage what to do with the surplus, both when is the right time to move surplus and how to maximize return in trades.

In fact I think he'll try to move at least one dman this summer. We have too many going into next season:

Guhle - Savard
Matheson - Barron
Xhekaj - Edmundson
Harris - Kovacevic
Wideman

Struble - Norlinder
Trudeau - Mailloux
Fairbrother - Beaudin
Schueneman, Allard, Dello, Bilpedo, etc...

Beaudin is ahead of Norlinder and Struble, Mailloux would have to steal his spot. TBH i could see a first pairing of Trudeau - Beaudin.

Struble was always a very solid prospect, like a A-. Compare him to guys like Edmundson and Chiarot at the same age. These were purely defensive Ds that found some offense with time.

Can Struble be as dominant physically than those two? He's average height, closer to Suzuki than Chiarot or Edmundson. I know he's a unit of man, but can you be than dominant physically at 6'?
