I need to log off and get back to work. But even if some of you want to defend these moves and his apparent negatives, the biggest question is...WHAT DOES HE DO WELL?

roster construction? Trades? Free agents? Talent evaluation? Drafts? Roster management? Developing prospects?

He engages in superficial, hollow corporate speak quite well.

"I dialogued with Kim and Terry Pegula yesterday and we agreed that the team is facing a number of demanding challenges right now but we look forward to the opportunity to improve at every level of the organization, not only for us but the great fans of Buffalo as well."

That sort of thing.

The quotes are staggeringly horrible to me.

Good god.

so as he takes his sigh of relief that no one will be hired above him to sit between him and ownership, he throws his AGMs into the mix and basically says “they’re just as much to blame as me, guys!”

I lol'd at the line that Botts' drafting has been universally lauded. Kaliyev has been tearing it up while Brink and Hoglander have looked at least decent. Meanwhile, we picked Ryan Johnson to join an organization where d-men at the AHL level are having to play as forwards.

Like, who stands out as a truly great pick by Botts?
His dumbass choices significantly hurt Mitts' development. Cozens looks nice but is still just a kid. UPL looks good so far but goalies are voodoo.

this is such an underrated point. So many of his moves scream indecisiveness.

He was decisive once, and made one of the worst trades of the last decade. Now we simply move 3rd and 4th rounders around for complete garbage in hopes that they may fit. We retain so many defensemen that they were close to mutiny.

haha. But didn’t he wait until he was right up against an internal deadline to deal ROR?

Given the reports, he wasn’t decisive there either. It was months.
