Confirmed with Link: Jason Arnott fails physical; Deal with NYR off

Dreger reported that the Rangers were "uncomfortable" with his physical status, and then went on to imply that it was more conditioning ("still think he can help a team") than a health implication (like an unhealthy knee)...

If thats the case, maybe there is some development with someone like PK Subban where Sather would like to have as much flexibility for this year as possible? Just an idea, we were linked to him earlier this weekend.

Too bad about Arnott. I don't want Subban anywhere near this team.

Brook... Ur kidding right? Ur a good poster... We need a versatile center, and MASSIVE HELP ON THE PP... I'm not saying he's the savior but his limited attributes couldn't hurt. Pending physical lol.

Now where are we?

Same spot... Lame in C and left... No depth...

Thanks for the compliment--but Arnott is not the answer to our problems. The Rangers need more speed in the lineup, not less. I've been watching Arnott his whole career and I really didn't think he had enough left in the tank to keep up in Tortorella's system. Plus, this guy just failed a physical pretty much because he didn't work hard enough during the lockout. How can a veteran without a contract not do everything possible to prove doubters like me (and all the teams that passed on him) wrong?

I'm not thrilled with the way the team is playing. The Rangers gave up a lot of versatility to get Nash (and I'm not complaining). Dubinsky and Arty could move up and down the lineup, which hid a lot of holes. The 3rd and 4th line have plenty of snarl, but not a lot of speed (outside of Hagelin and to a lesser extent Boyle). We need something more than a washed up mercenary like Arnott.

Again... Ur a good poster.

Line prop... W out arnott.

Every single one I've thought of or seen is better w him

Again....that's on paper. A lot of us had Kreider penciled into the 2nd line which boosted our depth and he hasn't performed up to expectations (injury of course). There is no certainty that Arnott is productive.

While PK will be good, don't we have to offersheet him? I don't wanna do that. Anyway, no certainty Arnott will do anything here. But still hopes that he can win a bit of faceoffs.

Yes you do. I hate the dude more than anyone. But I can't deny his bomb from the point. It would help out.

No one can argue that Subban on the point on our 5 on 3 wouldn't improve it. I hate the guy as much as the next person (as you too said) but I'd add him in a second.

I hated the Avery trade when it went down, and fell in love with him after game 1 with NYR. I think Subban would have the same impact here.

It would cost a hell of a lot to get him, though.

we need our secondary scoring guys to play well. Secondary scoring is one thing, players playing well is another. I just want to see one of Hagelin, Callahan, Stepan have a good game next game.

Are you serious? He'd be the #1 defenseman on our team hands down!

It is entirely possible that his body is not capable of the kind of conditioning needed to make an NHL roster anymore. At some point, players bodies just break down. The shoulder and knee surgeries might have been the last straw for his. Not everything in the world is just a matter of willpower.

What we need more than Arnott is for Stepan and Callahan to start playing like the 2nd liners they actually are. That doesn't preclude the need for more puck skill in our bottom-6.

LOL Subban #1? Please...

It's ridiculous to talk about PK though, Rangers don't have the assets to spare to grab him at the moment. Unless MTL wants all prospects in the deal, the Rangers can't afford to throw a forward to MTL at the moment.

Subban will go West. They don't need him anyway. Why give up the assets it would cost?

lol @ Arnott.
