What are the Oilers supposed to do with Jarry and Graves?

Nurse is in our Top 4 so now our lineups for D are

Ek Bouch
Jarry Stecher
Kulak Embersson

And Jarry is in the pickard spot?

I don't see how this helps the Oil. Not a bad proposal for value.
Lol, can you explain this a bit more? I am absolutely lost here.

LOL.. I wrote Jarry

Should have wrote Graves there. My point was that Nurse is our 3rd best defender (love him or hate him) and if we trade him away we only have 2 guys with any NHL claims to being a Top 4 guy.

Ek Bouch
Graves Stecher
Kulak Embersson

mix and match that bottom 4 anyway you like.. none of them are Top 4 guys.

Bloomberg is not ready for prime time and Ned is a 20 game goalie at best. Jarry will get in a groove and be available for a team needing a goalie depending on the deal. But Jarry can get it together this year and be very good. Pens will move him at some point. With Bloomberg, the young Russian playing in WB and getting necessary PT, both will be competing in 2 years.

hey now, Nurse hasn't been very good, but he's not getting replaced at LD by a goalie

In fairness... Jarry in full equipment on the PK might help after those first 3 games of the season where every PP was a goal in our net.lol Maybe he could stand beside Skinner/Pickard and we can run 5 on 3's with 2 goalies.

Edmonton Do it IMO

Even tho Nurse is the best player in that deal, getting out of that Contract in a way or another is automatic Win for the Oilers

It is too much of a thermonuclear waste soup to happen, with too much money involved, but just consider for a second how outrageous it would be for any team to pay present day iterations of Karlsson, Nurse and Letang all at the same time! A combined cap-hit North of 24 million. My goodness.

I mean... I suppose value is sort of a wash, but it doesn't help either team. I don't see why either club does it.

Nurse also exercises his NMC right now and for the foreseeable future. His team is a threat to go to the Finals and win a Cup. The Pens are probably finishing about 9th or 10th in the East.

Jarry’s off to a rough start and hasn’t been able to be a workhorse or clutch. But he does have a career 0.911 sv%. He absolutely could come out his current funk.

I think we can put a pin in any deals with Nurse. He can't be moved easily and the return offers won't help Edmonton in the here and now or moving forward.

The Oilers know what they have with Nurse. They have to figure out a way to work around his deficiencies on the ice, play to his strengths, and all the while somehow staying cap compliant.

That is what major league GMs and coaches are suppose to do.

I'm not an Oilers fan but I'm a big enough fan that I would gladly drive Nurse there from Edmonton and I live in California.

Nurse is going to be the reason the Oilers don’t win a Stanley cup. I don’t want to take him away from the Oilers with only a 2nd coming with him.

No they don't. Teams who want to contend don't trade their 3rd best defenseman for a struggling goalie who would be their backup, and yet another bottom pair defenseman.

Even if we wanted to trade Nurse, he has a full NMC and isn't going anywhere for at least a few more years.
THIRD BEST DEFENCEMAN? Yeah, for the OTHER TEAM.

Nurse is an Oiler until that contract runs out. There’s no other player out there with a negative value as high as his, you could argue Huberdeau but he’s been playing okay this season.

Then you add in the NMC. Which is just mind numbing to wrap your head around.

Youre so wrong. The Oilers are going to buy Nurse out once it makes sense. If he magically waives his NMC, he'd be gone in any deal that came their way.

And 3rd best of the team means nothing there because that D core is atrocious.

Nurse is a finnicky player who plays well with undersized D who can make plays it seems like, his best seasons were with Barrie and he seemed to mesh well with an inexperienced Bear before that.

The Oilers put him with Troy Stetcher the last two games and his game immediately improves, 2 points, +2 in the last two Oiler games, both wins.

Go figure.

He plays meaner and more aggressive when he's the only big guy on his pairing for whatever reason.
