I don't believe that. Houle saw a kid clearly not ready for the AHL. No way a professional head coach would decide that a recently drafted 1st round pick is not worthy and dislikes him. Management wouldn't tolerate that.

He decided a recent 2nd round pick forced to play the AHL at 19 was only going to be a checker and held that opinion even when he arrived later on and despite scoring, playing hard and giving the team more than a number of vets, that player was traded away.

I have a feeling that whatever is done with Habs prospects are at the direction of the big team.

He's been playing well to start the season. Has 4 goals in 8 games. With a +6. He could replace Evans next year.

Since the second half of last season he's been playing good hockey. Kept getting better and better.

What a weird suggestion. Davidson doesn't even play center. I think he could make it someday, but Evans' is not the spot he will take.

Davidson has some admirable skills but he lacks the fluid skating to be an effective center in the NHL. Davidson is a straight line skater who drives the net hard and has an above average shot. He also has good leadership traits. This kid is built to be a winger at the next level.

Sorry, I was looking at Laval stats this morning. I don't watch Labal. Find it too slow hockey. Looking at stats of most our prospects before going in woods.

Hockeydb listed him as center. Seen big jump in his offensive numbers compared to year ago. But that's good, Beck likely 4th line center

Would you say another Mike Keane?

I'd say way too early to know what he becomes, if anything, at the NHL level. He still has an uphill battle to make it at all, like many solid players with less than perfect profiles (size, skating, etc...). It's already good he is where he is. We just have to let him simmer along with the other young prospects we have and wait to see who rises to the top.

If he makes it, I doubt it will be more than a 4th liner, but stranger things have happened. It would be a great draft find for a guy like him to become a 4th liner. If he doesn't make it, he is still a quality guy to have around our team in Laval.

A good sign when their numbers jump like Davidson's though. Get a solid 4th liner out of 5th round is good

I am intrigued. What is the story here @montreal

good shot, works hard, will get his nose dirty, but the speed and skating need a good bit of work still. Hope they leave him alone and let him do his thing for now and see how it continues to go, he's have a great start to the season as he's easily been one of Laval's best players this year.

Wonder if he's got a Ryder-esque career trajectory ahead of him...
