Sorry to disappointing everyone but AV just signed a 3 year extention this off season. I guess being the #1 seed and getting beat by the #8 seed 4-1 in the first round gets you fat stacks. Aquilini would be pissed if he was fired anytime soon. We are stuck with him until at least next summer.

this is what i hate about Gillis. He is clueless as a GM.

Why in the hell would you re-sign a loser coach when you just got bounced as the #1 seed to the #8 seed.

Sadly, the cluless GM of ours is just as stubborn as his coach. He has already blamed the lockout for the poor start. He won't get it at all.

Starting to feel some buyers' remorse on Garrison. Hopefully it's just a slow start.

Not the same player as in Florida at all. He always looks like he's rushing to make the play, unsure of himself and his hands and feet look shaky. I think(hope) it's just due to the long layoff, lack of training camp and coming off an injury this summer. None of the top 4 or Sedins look close to their best - and many top players around the league look dreadful compared to their mid-season form. Don't see Garrison playing like this 10 games from now, he's normally a much safer player with and without the puck.

I have been blown away by how poor Edler's puck movement to Garrison has been. He either ignores him as an option or fires 70MPH passes. Hard to watch Edler QB'ing the PP right now.

Get Lubo Visnovsky here ASAP. The blueline needs some dynamic skill and puck moving ability.

Shortshorts game review

I don't care if we were leading the entire game. We sucked.

Forwards

Again, our best forwards were:
Schroeder (64% on the faceoff dot, good defensively, good speed)
Raymond (created offense, and good defensively)
Weise (Moving his feet and hitting people. Not suited for an offensive role)
Kassian (Played very well actually. Can't believe I forgot him)

Mediocre:
Higgins (He looked a bit better today. He needs to improve though)
Burrows (Scored... but did nothing else. What the hell was he try to do in the shootout?)
Hansen (Good defensively, terrible offensively)

Bad:
Everyone else.

Defence

Edler - It's clear he needs to be put back on the left side. He's just a lot more comfortable there. He still played very decently today. Though, it'll be 4 great shifts, 1 suspect shift, 4 great shifts, 1 suspect shift. Ate 24minutes today, 3 blacks and 1 takeaway.

Hamhuis - What is up with his skating? He's slow as molasses. His decision making is suspect this season too.

Bieksa - Actually thought he played well. Not a huge complaint from me,.

Garrison - I really hope this is rust. He does not look good. His skating is extremely slow and his passing is not crisp.

Ballard - Exceptional

Tanev - Rough game, but still played very well.

Luongo - I can't believe we lost this game for Lu... :(

Board "moderators" seem to be the most panicky in the thread.

It's really, really easy kids, many guys were rehabbing during the lockout and didn't play at all. A guy like Garrison is now adapting to a COMPLETELY different system. It game mfing 6 for fudge's sake.

To repeat, it's been over 100 years since a team won the SC in January. Yu guys are embarrassing yourselves.
With AV it will be 100 years before this team wins a cup in June aswell.

People always whine about how we should fire AV... Who the **** would we hire as our new coach huh?

ANYONE as long as the culture is changed. Enough of this 7 year crap with the same coach. The team needs a new voice. You know what we said the exact same crap 4 years ago after missing the playoffs... "Who the **** would we hire as our new coach huh?" So don't act arrogant. Enough is enough it's time to get a new coach.

If the Canucks start getting destroyed by the Blackhawks, expect things to turn ugly.
Guys will be seeking revenge on Keith.

They iced the puck multiple times in the first few minutes of every single ****ing period.

Exactly.

That's what I saw too. I saw a team that couldn't cope with the pressure and 'weight' of the Kings and we iced the puck to relieve the pressure from the get go.

PP could have salted this in the 3rd again and didn't.

AV's fault? Seems that is the consensus.

It's almost like we hadn't played in 9 months and were suddenly being thrown back out to the wolves with the system that arguably takes the slowest to get everyone on the same wavelength in the NHL.

No wait, that's exactly what it is.

It would be easier to stomach if the young guys were struggling, but it's a lot of the established vets / core players that are really struggling.

Like someone said, it's a 48 game season. You can't continue to give up 2-0 leads and squander points.

Would be cool if the impending blowout against Chicago sparks this team like it did last year.

It's a 48 game season. You can't compare it to 82 game seasons slow starts. if you get off to too slow of a start you don't have time to recover.

Exaggeration. We start slow every year, when was the last time we weren't in a playoff position after 48 games?

Looking at the positives, what a game from Tanev tonight.

Wouldn't mind seeing him get a shot at top 4 minutes next game, hopefully put some pressure on the top two pairings.

Tanev played great. If he keeps that up they'll have to find more ice-time for him.

Make my day.
How people think we sat back is beyond me.

LA was the better team tonight. Territorially dominated from puck drop. We did not sit back, we were out matched at every turn.

The two goals were nice hard work team goals, but the Canucks can't compete wit that size and strength, especially withou Kesler and Booth.

Oh well...

People seem to think this team is an offensive, skill based powerhouse. We aren't, we are 2-way team that grinds out wins through system and commitment. It's how we got to G7 SCF. It's how we got the PT trophy last year. We have 2 proven skill players in the line up (Sedins). We simply don't have the horses to play a skill game atm, we don't even a proper PP running/offensive dman.

Just accept that maybe AV knows something. As much as AV irritates me at times, it's how we have won and it's how we will keep winning. Get a new coach and the problems won't go away unless get more skill players who can elevate those around him. Wouldn't hurt the shootouts:laugh:.

If it takes the canucks getting blown out in order for them to have a chat with dk, then I have even less respect for them.

This really isn't true. The media keeps on reporting it because it is an exciting idea that will get people interested in the nhl again but it is bs. The last shortened season the new jersey devils went 0-4, but they would also win the cup. It sucks that the canucks aren't playing well but they do have time to get their act together.
