This thread is taking a wonderful turn, great job at excercising some selfcontrol guys. It's not like any of us wanted an update of the game or anything.
I was hoping for a game, not watching a Russian meltdown, no self control, no poise and not an ounce of heart.

Well take away one incompetent goal judge and one incompetent referee, and you have an even game, with Canada having considerably superior goaltending. Canada deserves to be up, but definately not by 4.
Oh, why not? They score goals, Russians can't seem to.....yet. Tell me, how much DO Canada deserve to be up? Tell the players they shouldn't score because they shouldn't be up by four.. :shakehead

There is about 12 non calls on Canada I counted. The ref is doing what he needs.
But why don't you mention the (many) calls that should have gone against the Russians too? You're ignoring that part completely.

Player of this period goes to Blunden.

Staal and Bourdon for the first period, but Blunden was clearly the victor here.

Weren't you the one who said Staal wasn't that good in the 1st period?

Ok i understand . A north amarican board for north amarican people. What a joke !

Canadian boys are playing with loads of heart. Pogge has come up big when he needed to. :handclap:

This is the only way Canada could win and the ref is doing everything to help them. Absolutely terrible officiating.

This will be the 9th gold for Canada since 1990 to Russia's 4. With all the practice you guys should really getting better at losing by now.

Terrible news for Russia on that non-goal call. It's really too bad, as it was a hard earned goal.

It's also too bad that the ref is now letting nearly everything go. A terribly officiated period (both ways). I thought he did an ok job in the first, but the second was brutal.

there's no bias of the ref in fact - i would argue that, that goal was inconclusive - in football, if there is not enough evidence to overturn they don't do it..and they didn't - the corner where the puck goes in for a split second is all dark - regardless Canada is pounding Russia - hitting everything that moves, great D zone coverage and forecheck - they are full measure for this lead

I'm going to bed now hoping to see a miracle on my computer screen tomorrow morning! Oh please, please!!!

P.S. To my Russian players: ''Play hard like it's OT to the last minute and don't do anything stupid!''

Good night.

Russian hockey officials have went to TSN demanding video of the discounted goal. TSN refused. Now Russia is going to the IIHF to seek the videos.

Really? They said the complete otherwise on the broadcast. If that IS the case - which I doubt - than, yeah, that is b.s.

But I find it absurd to think that they went upstairs, told the ref it was a goal and he simply didn't count it. (and then Russian coach didn't get kicked out after being told the circumstances. Because I sure as hell would have LOST it if that was the case)

I have IIHF Rule book in finnish, if you can read finnish I'll send it. It says only that you can't DISALLOW goal after you have once started game. Not about giving the goal.

No clue why. Hell, everyone will tell them the puck was in. Problem is, nobody saw it was in until it no longer mattered.

Yea that sucks, how's Downie been playing?
Downie, as much as I don't like him, is playing very well. Creating chances all the time.
