You might, Hexy's not headed that way. Don't forget he was a pretty active voice in getting Schenn moved out of LA, he's seen a lot of his game and knows it's lacking in most areas. He's turning 24 next month and going into his 5th year, this is Schenn, you can't coach lack of hockey IQ or instinct.

From the Daily news - Hexy on not signing Schenn

translation might be they've been trying to trade him for awhile and no takers, so he'll walk.

Jake's an elite winger that doesn't get the respect he deserves, I think. He's the 3rd leading scoring winger in the NHL over the last 4 years behind Ovie and Kessel, that's pretty solid numbers and I'm sure was part of the ammo his agent used.

Jake's game took a huge step forward last year, he reminds me a lot of Hossa and there's no reason to think he won't continue to produce well into his 30's.

Voracek is behind Eberle, Kane, St. Louis, Benn, Kessel, and Ovechkin in scoring by wingers over the past 4 years.

Over the past 3 years, however, he is only behind Kessel, Benn and Ovechkin and is 10th overall.

I love how Giroux was the most overrated player in the league until this deal was inked, now he's the only reason Voracek is even a semi respectable hockey player

As soon as Jagr left and Jake got 1st line and 1st PP unit minutes, his production exploded. He "only" had 62 points in 13-14, but he was bothered by a back injury to start the season, and when Clutterbuck violently slashed his hand.

I saw something amusing in that 2014 Voracek thread. See if you can guess the poster who claimed everyone else was "a little off".

I'm a fan of Jake for sure, but I don't ever seen him becoming a PPG player consistently. He's 25 now and has not hit that PPG mark yet, hasn't even come close in a full season. I see him topping out at around 70, which is by no means a bad thing, but I think some of you talking about him being a PPG guy are a little off.

Yeah, to most with a brain, it was obvious that Voracek was capable of being a premier scoring winger in the NHL. His dominance of possession is well documented going back to the lockout-shortened year, and the eye test only confirmed it with his combo of size, speed, skill, and puck protection ability.

Last summer, most were predicting a 70+ season from Voracek despite only scoring 62 last year. It wasn't blind faith; there was substantial evidence showing that Voracek was going to have a strong season offensively.

That's the reason opposing fans doesn't buy into the extension like Flyers fans do. They think Voracek just appeared onto the scene this year seemingly out of nowhere. That couldn't be further from the truth. He's been an elite winger for quite some time now.

That's just dumb, though. By going out of this magical bubble of omnipotence and well of hockey knowledge, you risk exposing yourself to ideas that might negatively impact your ability to accurately assess reality, in particular as it pertains to hockey. Like I said, dumb.

That person would say Jake only got 81 points in 82 games so he has yet to get a PPG. :sarcasm:

There's another similar thread I remember with that poster fighting for pages and pages about how many points Voracek was going to finish the season with. If I recall correctly, he didn't think he'd hit 70 even in, like, January, when it became pretty clear that Jake was most certainly going to surpass 70 points.

The same Pens mod who filled the Voracek thread with nonsense is now claiming that Jamie Benn hasn't had the same production over an extended period of time as Kane and Toews.

Last four seasons
Benn - 275 GP, 262 P, 0.953 P/GP
Kane - 259 GP, 254 P, 0.981 P/GP
Toews - 263 GP, 239 P, 0.909 P/GP

It's amazing at how often people will make arguments based on bogus claims that are easily disproved by two minutes of fact checking.

Gotta buy up those UFA years. Tarasenko is a misleading comparable (although his contract is really really awesome). When you compare Voraceks deal to guys like Perry and Kessel I think his contract is bang on.

Voracek wasn't paid on the results of a single season. His whole career as a Flyer contributed, particularly the last three seasons where he played on the first line and scored at 0.892 points per game. Much higher than Tarasenko, and much higher than ROR who also got $7.5m and was a UFA so the salary comparisons are more meaningful.

http://www.quanthockey.com/nhl/seasons/last-3-nhl-seasons-forwards-stats.html

Voracek is 19th, Tarasenko is 47th, and ROR is 59th.
