Dear lord. I just caught the tail end of it but someone in TSN was talking saying that the Voracek deal "could" possibly mean that Giroux could be moved for true #1 Dman to support all the kids on the way.

Did he stop and think for a second who becomes the #1 C in that situation?

Just think...we now potentially have:
Voracek for the next 9 years
Giroux for the next 7 years
Couts for the next 7 years.

Locking up the core long term!

Yeah, and Simmonds is locked long term aswell.

One of the best things about this chart is the TOI of a second liner. Hopefully with a coach that knows what he's doing Jake will be even more impressive.

Edit yeah, what Beef said.

I'm so ****ing happy.

Not even about the deal itself, but the fact that it got done this offseason. I was worried that this was gonna go down to the wire and some other team was going to offer an ungodly deal to steal him from us.

So glad that this guy will be a Flyer for the majority of his career.

Also, now would be a good time for a #throwbackthursday moment. Funny to think how upset some people were at the time. Seems so long ago.

Worse it was Poulin. Then Steve Simmons called him on it.

Would of liked less than 8 but am happy, he gets 9 as a ufa easily

That is hilarious, did they say who it was? I bet it was Jeff Oneill. That guy is such a clown.

Jake - 9 years
G - 7 years
Simmonds - 4 years
Couts - 7 years

Who's next? Schenn, Raffl?

I doubt Raffl gets more than three years. Four at the most. I'd be fine with him being dealt or even walking as a UFA depending on what he's looking for and how he plays this year.

Schenn is kind of a wild card. I'm all about getting a deal done for him but idk if the brass feel that way.

If everything keeps going as planned i think 2018-2019 will be the season when we start being considered as a true Stanley cup contender.

This makes it obvious why Hartnell was traded.

Hextall knew he had big contracts in his future, had to find cap flexibility, stuck with Vinnie, Umberger is manageable after this season, Streit is tradeable, McDonald can be moved next year with only four years left on his deal.

He's added about $7M after this year (net increase in the two contracts), but potentially can clear $10-15M.

It was going to happen, so no surprise here.

I am happy he signed, but he will be 34 his final year of the deal, so hopefully he doesn't revert back to eating his mama's cooking in future summers.

Cap reality is you sign your big time players ahead of free agency, but have to let some others go ahead of free agency. I would prefer B.Schenn on a shorter deal than what Couturier got, just for more flexibility in the long run.

Umberger as well as Vinny are history after this season.

The Flyers center position would suddenly go from good to horrid if they moved Giroux. The gap between him & Couturier who is next guy in line is massive.

According to the main thread you guys could just replace him with Bonino... the sad thing is that the poster seems to be serious.
