???? As for Volohkin, KHL is a very low scoring league. Most goalies have great stats.

Since 12-18 he's got a .923 save %. Do you have any idea where a .923 save % would rank in the KHL's history for a U-20 goalie? I'll give a hint, it's among the best. But he's a rookie that went from juniors to the KHL this year and has had to make adjustments like going from playing all the time to getting 3-4 games over 7 weeks (not counting when he left to play for the National Junior team in a short tournament as he would have been among the top 2 goalies for Russia had they been at the WJC's this year)

"I haven't seen my father for a year and a half and he was here tonight (January 19th 2025 against the New York Rangers). I was a little nervous because I wanted to do well in front of him. We'll celebrate together, that's for sure!"

Ermmmm, what?

You say that Price was elite because on the PK he was crouched and ready to make the save, and in the next breath say that Price's weakness was seeing through traffic on the PK?

I know goalies are voodoo, but I didn't think that voodoo extended to comments about goalies.
big brain comment. 10% understand it.

He's what we hoped Primeau would have been after elite NCAA numbers. I wonder how much of it just Dobes being more seasoned and mentally ready. Primeau played 21 games in the NHL over 4 season with only 3 wins before he reached Dobes age when he made first NHL appearance. That's a lot of losing.

Rookie goalie stats (min 4 games). Imagine if we traded Dobes+ for Askarov this past offseason? I remember hearing Hughes was in talks with the Preds but decided to pass because the cost was too high.

It will be interesting to see how many more starts Dobes gets. 35 more games to play and I would assume Dobes gets about 10-15 of them. So he ends up with 15-20 games while someone like Wolf ends up with 40 ish.

That's why you keep drafting them. Takes forever to know how good or bad they are and most of them don't have 5+ good years.

Is there any expert goalie analyst here ? Beside his stats, how do you find Dobes ? Is he as goods as his stats indicate ?

For skaters, I could tell if a prospect is truly good or just a fluke, but for a goalie, I really don't know. Goalies are way too unpredictable.

One thing to keep in mind, we played the crap out of Montie because we had no choice. And he played much of those games behind a horrific team. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if fatigue is setting in a little bit.

WTK is the closest we have to an expert.

I wouldn't expect him to carry these stats, not even prime Carey Price had stats these good over the full year.

He's got a lot of upside and he's working with Fry, a mental coach, so that's a really big thing that can help him continue his success.

He's athletic, he's big and he's a competitor. A good puckhandler too. He takes up a lot of net and will abandon technique if needed to save the puck. His rebound control has actually been solid.

We will see what happens when shooters get more of a read and book on him, how does he handle a bigger workload, and how does he respond with a bad game or a series of tough outings? How consistent can he end up being? Those are the things that separate goalies at this level.

He still has nerves, has to start better on time. His glove hand is mixed right now. He's gotta make sure he's dialed in when the puck is in his zone since turnovers happen very quickly and he's gotten beat under the glove a couple times.
