Dobes posture reminds me of of Pekka Rinne.
The way he stopped Drouin amd Rantanen reminds me of Carey Price.
Really I found the opposite haha that save on lehky was very price-esq while his saves on rantenan and drouin was so much like Rinne. Especially vs drouin!

He reminds me more of Scott Darling when he was in Chicago and I don’t mean that to be an insult in any way just because Darling’s career fell off early.

Yup! This kid has a chance to go far. Gotta wait and see if this is really his level or if he is just on some weird "hot streak" (if goalies can even have such), but its looking very good.
They do, like any other players, confidence and injuries are a big factor in goalie's performance.

But rookie goalies often start hot until teams have scouted them and found holes to exploit.

But Dobes have some excellent goalie tools (anticipation, glove hand and rebound control) on top of looking big in his net and being atheltic. Lets just say the holes will be smaller than Primeau's glove hand...

Love the hyperbole in this thread. A hall of fame career has now been more or less predicted after 2 NHL games.

I really like Dobes and I'm pumped with his debut. He has shown good confidence, he was not phased by the fact he is now playing in the best league in the world. We will see how it progresses, but so far it is promising.

I've got Dobes at 5 on our prospect list and ahead of Primeau at 9.

I'm just so impressed with this kid, the upside is enormous. The only thing really getting him in trouble is his aggressiveness in the crease and some rebound control issues. Everything else is high level, most importantly his athleticism, compete and tracking.

Looked back and he's improved his Lateral movement a lot, rebound control has been flawless so far in the NHL and he has toned down his aggressiveness a lot.

Montreal was on him early, too.

See how he continues but I definitely hope they use him a lot and spell Monty more than they could with Primeau

The book will eventually come out on Dobes. Right now I’m sure players feel like they’re shooting at a giant robot that can move surprisingly well. Lol

Did anyone find the image Stephane Waite brought out at camp comparing Dobes' base and posture to Price.?
I'm fairly certain I saw it on a video link posted on this site of and episode of On Jase.
It was Uncanny I definitely mentioned it in a post at the time.
Probably post game after his start against the Leafs A team.

This looks very close to it.

No but I understand that Waite believes a goalie should play at least 100 games at the AHL level before getting a call up.

Dobes has played 65 with Laval. Close enough. At this rate, he ain’t going back.

CP played 35 so yeah that sound about right mind you 22 of them were post season Calder Cup winning games. :D
But it's not Dobes' fault Laval were so shit and didn't give him a chance to replicate the feat. :sarcasm:

Great game!
Great Technique he has abilities Monty just doesn't have. You can't unlearn great technique.

The Xhekaj jump happened during his TVA interview. You can see that clip here (right after a couple of ads):

He’s also getting lovingly mauled here:

I've posted it twice already so this will be the last time.
The players always know.

Thx for doing that. I didn’t get to read the whole PGT so I missed it. Was just trying to answer a question from our buddy @OldCraig71 who enjoys watching players getting mauled, assaulted, jumped, whatever. :sarcasm:
