Can you post your source on thisMy bad. Treliving told mgmt he refused to work with the guy any more. He wasn't the person who actually fired the schmuck.

There was a power battle going on between Treliving and Sutter and Pelletier suffered. Sutter didnt give a shit about Pelletier. He just wanted Tre to know that Tre wasn't his boss. Sutter is a dink. I have no respect for the man. You don't treat people like that... especially young rookie players. What did Darryl do to him
Jakob Pelletier was called up in early January and didn’t dress for two weeks. Pelletier eventually got into the lineup for 24 games, but that was over an 87-day stint on the NHL roster, and also saw him scratched for much of the club’s stretch drive.
Or is Treliving a dink? There was a power battle going on between Treliving and Sutter and Pelletier suffered. Sutter didnt give a shit about Pelletier. He just wanted Tre to know that Tre wasn't his boss. Sutter is a dink.
To my knowledge Treliving has been nothing but respectful towards others. That can't be said about Sutter.Or is Treliving a dink?
According to you, Treliving staked his tenure as Flames gm on Darryl's deployment of a middle six winger prospect. Sounds whack, on Tre's part. To your knowledge, Darryl lashed out at rabid media members with one simple joke, and apologized to Pelletier in person afterward. Have any other inside dirt?To my knowledge Treliving has been nothing but respectful towards others. That can't be said about Sutter.
Did he ever apologize to Huberdeau? Has he ever apologized to all the players that he's coached and think he's an asshole and refuse to play for him? Suter has a history of disrespecting players.According to you, Treliving staked his tenure as Flames gm on Darryl's deployment of a middle six winger prospect. Sounds whack, on Tre's part. Apologize to huberdeau for what? Trying to help him not have the worst decline in nhl history, for which huberdeau, coward that he is, blamed entirely on Darryl for putting him on his off wing?Did he ever apologize to Huberdeau? I'm not going down this rabbit hole with you. I think Sutter is an asshole. You appear to think he has done nothing wrong. We'll leave it at that. We all have, and are entitled to have, our own opinion.Apologize to huberdeau for what?
No. It was the joke. Pelletier was the next marchand, and Darryl couldn't stand it, and did everything to keep him down. It was the joke, though, that wounded him beyond repair. Ruined his careerGuys this is an absolutely crazy theory, but I’m going to go with it being the brutal shoulder injury and not the joke that was made about him 2 years ago having the largest effect .
Occam’s razor people.
There are probably many reasons. Nothing is ever simply one reason.Guys this is an absolutely crazy theory, but I’m going to go with it being the brutal shoulder injury and not the joke that was made about him 2 years ago having the largest effect .

Sorry, but his behaviour shouldn’t be tolerated in this day and age regardless of how good he is. That on top of his general refusal to give rope to young guys means he’s an ass and past his best before date.
And one reason is made up by our fan base with no source, is not backed in data, and is sheer conjecture. There are probably many reasons. Nothing is ever simply one reason.

No, you just have no idea what happened behind the scenes and now you're backing out.I'm not going down this rabbit hole with you. I think Sutter is an asshole. You appear to think he has done nothing wrong. We'll leave it at that. We all have, and are entitled to have, our own opinion.
Sutter being an asshole and players not wanting to play for him has been pretty well documented. Look it up on Google. No, you just have no idea what happened behind the scenes and now you're backing out.
“Darryl and Brent don’t even talk,” said the staffer.
“It’s so dysfunctional. Darryl has been in the league as a respected player, coach and GM forever, and he knows more about the NHL than anyone in the organization. He saved this franchise. But his ego, or lack of social graces or whatever, has reached a point where the people who can help him find him totally unapproachable. That includes Brent. He doesn’t listen. It’s a reign of terror. Everyone is scared of him.”
It's just extreme bias and misapprehension by certain of a fan base that feel they've been denied for years what they perceive is a "youth movement," which they think they've witnessed in every other market, but especially in the recent cup winning teams, sold to them by media in fake storylines of "rebuild" since the Iginla years. This creates in their mind the germ that every prospect drafted by the Flames is sacred. When a coach comes in and does his hockey job, which is simply to evaluate players, teach, and try to win, it doesn't fit the fan and media's agreed upon narrative that a charmed and painless fairytale occur in which a young core all the same age grows up together and wins the cup, a la Crosby, Mackinnon, Toews, etc, and that that can only happen if an arbitrary number of rookies, and I stress, a number that will never, ever be enough, are given an arbitrary, undefined "chance," no matter what. They feel it's the Flames' duty to fashion these players into impact NHLers through the magical grace of more ice time, regardless of the players real ability, and already slim chance of panning out. They feel that whiffing on a draft pick isn't due to scouting, or shear probability, but some organizational incompetence. In Sutter's case, the aforementioned coach must adhere to this law. The asinine part is, Huska and every other coach operate exactly the same way as Sutter. Sutter just didn't sugar coat anything, and saw through the game the media tries to play, so he's labeled an asshole.Hard to say when we don't know what he actually did or said. All we know a few people hated him enough to want to leave.
And who did he refuse to play that actually deserved to play at that time? Zary and Pospisil were sent down by Huska the year after Darryl left and only got called up because of injury. Darryl also kept Zary as one of the last cuts in training camp and said he was close.
I think it’s pretty clear that Sutter was a problem in Calgary, but it’s also pretty clear that he knows how to win hockey games. The revisionist history around Dutter is always fascinating. Treliving might be an overrated hack but Dutter has a longstanding history of being a whiny emotionally stunted toxic cancer:
Darryl and Brent Sutter don't talk, need 'referee'
Eric Francis of the Ottawa Sun has some interesting notes tonight from a Calgary Flames staffer who has come forward to shed some light on the front office situation in Calgary.www.nbcsports.com
Dutter is a tried old dinosaur incapable of handling the responsibilities of the modern cap era NHL, where you aren't winning shit if you aren't also developing future talent at the same time. Give him a stacked veteran roster and he'll get you results for a year or two. But the moment the cap forces some of those vets to be replaced by rookies/prospects/whatever is the moment Dutter starts freaking out.
What revisionism? Everyone knows Darryl was a train wreck by the end of his tenure as Flames GM. The reports from that era seem accurate, he was miserable to work for and was grasping at straws in roster building. You're putting Daryl 1.0 on trial here, instead of Darryl 2.0, the 2X cup winning coach took over a dysfunctional roster with a bunch of pending UFAs, and got railroaded by Huberdeau and Backlund. The revisionist history around Dutter is always fascinating.
