Well they are planning to provide Matthews a max term/$ deal. This is why they are not planning on taking on contracts with term associated.Has Arizona ever attracted a top UFA? I honestly can't think of one

That’s kind of in line with what Dreger was saying. He said they were very deep in negotiations and something late caused Ken Holland to draw a line and walk.No clue basically solely said they had agreed to something and Bill Armstrong asked for more at the last second and Holland walked.
That’s all that was said - take it for a grain as who knows what agreed actually means unless a call has taken place so it was probably agreed in principal on the pieces and in a discussion before a trade call Armstrong tried to make the deal a little sweeter or something.
We would have struggled to do it without a contract going back so that was probably the hitch
very likely was the issue of AZ refusing to take on Barrie's contract and/or retain on Chychrun. That’s kind of in line with what Dreger was saying. He said they were very deep in negotiations and something late caused Ken Holland to draw a line and walk.

There's a few reasons. Matthews is a means to sell out a new arena. We all know that's not why they're not taking money.

you may not like the plan but the worst kept secret in hockey is AZ is going to make a max term/max $ offer to Matthews. This will be a decision made by the owner not the GM. I don't particularly like the plan and am hoping Toronto extends before hitting the market. The Coyotes would be insane to operate their team and finances on the assumption that Matthews would sign there, especially in their current state. That'd be completely delusional. They're not even operating like a major league franchise right now and might not be for another couple of years.
My guess is that a big problem with a potential deal isn't the cost of assets themselves but something related to how the money works for Arizona.
This franchise is doing many things very well. I understand why that would be infuriating to some. This franchise can’t do anything right.
They’re infuriating.
yeah, what huge signings.....Amonte was a huge signing. And Jovanovski. And Ribeiro. They just didn’t work out well.
As evidenced by their history of success. This franchise is doing many things very well. I understand why that would be infuriating to some.

1 pm tomorrow. At what point does Armstrong finally accept he wont get what he wants? Its been over a year and no one has offered him what he wants. At this point I think most of the other gms are sayin f*** you, we won't pay that so enjoy keeping him and having this on going for even longer.
I'm sure this whole situation will just entice players to want to play in Arizona even more! /s
no, they weren't and all of themAll three of these were legitimate big signings. Which one(s) are you quibbling about?
Biggest embarrassment in all of professional sports. This franchise is doing many things very well. I understand why that would be infuriating to some.
As side note, I think the Mods are asleep at the switch here... Shouldn't a part II of this thread have been started 40 pages ago? We need part III queued up at this point.
Yeah, if he didn't want to sit he'd get the NHLPA involved. It's mutual. Why would Chychrun care about being sat? He's still getting paid. It's not performance-related. The team stinks.
Chychrun wants out as much as Arizona wants to trade him. If he plays and gets hurt, he's stuck there.
no, they weren't and all of them
I believe Friedman and Marek have talked about this rumour and I know the PHNX podcast has speculated on it several times. Nobody from the AZ Coyote organization is going to go on record and risk tampering charges.Source?
Moderators gave up on this trade last season. This thread is a free for all.As side note, I think the Mods are asleep at the switch here... Shouldn't a part II of this thread have been started 40 pages ago? We need part III queued up at this point.
