Honestly that's less weird than thinking it somehow defines him as a person
It's one of many red flags across multiple organizations. He was posting vacation photos on IG last season when he was supposed to be rehabbing from injury. Got healthy scratched by the Sharks earlier this year after blowing off another rehab session. I'm not saying he's a bad person, he's just not someone you want on a winning team.

And yet, you'll go to the hilt to defend Goodrow

This take is so eye-rolly it should come with a warning.

You have the most bizarre trait of picking a player to dislike and then finding any little thing to not just dislike them as a player but attack their character. It’s childish and weird, let it go, dude.
He argued for pages and pages that Walman had negative value. He has to double down and continue to hate him even more now.

He's a 30 year old man obsessed with Fortnite.
I feel like regular people probably shouldn't be the arbiters of the lives of athletes; they make millions living life in a way that just isn't really relevant to us.

And I hate to break it to you, but some of the best athletes in the world are obsessed with Fortnite or other games. This was six years ago and I'm pretty sure he's still obsessed (and did dances from the game on the way to winning the World Cup): Antoine Griezmann: Atletico Madrid star says he has more stress playing Fortnite than trying to score goals | Goal.com US

Ready to eat crow for saying Walman had negative value like last week?
I'll house a crow buffet if I don't have to watch Walman play hockey for the Sharks anymore.

Yes because by all accounts Goodrow is a leader and a professional off the ice and was an integral part of two Cup winning teams on it. That's the kind of person you want on a rebuilding team with an extremely young core. How is this difficult to understand?

I wanted to ask this question: Why are we saying that Walman is a veteran?

Sure, he's nearly 30. But he has, what, under 300 NHL games under his belt? He's an established NHLer but is still trying to figure things out for himself. I don't think he has the bandwidth to be a mentor at the NHL level, his inclination notwithstanding.

Goodrow leads absolutely nothing except the list of players that shouldn't be on an NHL roster anymore.
He wasn't a leader on the Lightning and he wasn't a leader with the Rangers.

The reality is that the Rangers were happy to literally let him go for nothing. Why? Because no one outside the Sharks wanted him. This great leader also quite publicly known he didn't want to be in San Jose.

You remind me of my good buddy @EdJovanovski but at least he has some consistency with the types of players he hates and likes.

It's more about where the Sharks are in the rebuild right now. If this was the early 2010s and we had Jumbo, Pavs and Boyle leading the way then sure go ahead and bring in a guy or two with less than perfect professionalism in the hopes that the leadership group can whip them into shape. This team is built around teenagers so we need to be much more selective with who is kept around long term. It was never going to make any sense to extend Walman IMO.

Hey, I think Goodrow is our third longest tenured player now.

Not sure who is going to play defense here next year is the only thing I don't think

Hopefully we have some trades or UFAs on the way in this summer

I’m happy with just the first coming back. I can’t see it being much more unless there’s something else involved (Kunin and/or cap dump from EDM)

Walman objectively had negative trade value a few months ago when we acquired him. Even that Frank Seravalli report people clung to merely stated other teams would have charged Detroit a lesser price than a 2nd to take his contract, not that anyone was willing to cough up positive assets.

Thankfully for us the Oilers are run by morons.

This is a way more reasonable take. There's a pretty large chasm between saying he has less than perfect professionalism and doesn't fit culture wise for the current stage of the rebuild and calling him a loser on and off the ice because he's a 30 year old obsessed with Fortnite.
