Jake Muzzin scary injury

Cross checks can be divided into two categories.

A pushing cross check, which is never called and really should never be called. It's only intent is to move the player.

Then there's a punching cross check where the player rears back and drives the stick into the victim. These should be called, penalized, and, IMO, suspended because they are done with an intent to injure.

It's clear as day what PLD did to Muzzin.
Wtf.....

It's so blatantly obvious who the fans are that want to turn hockey into a soft game.

The thing is, that isn’t the standard, and if it were you would need to apply it to a lot of different plays that are currently not punished.

Based on this he's out, he left the bubble

They may not consider hospital visits outside the bubble. On Sportsnet they just said they don’t know, the coach has said they don’t know.

Doesn’t sound that black and white.

Yeah, but what if he gets a cup of coffee tomorrow outside the bubble?:sarcasm:

Fair point, we'll see what happens

Hopefully he's okay, he's the one defensman we can't replace imo

So even if he's healthy, a minimum of 4 days out. He will miss games 3 and 4 minimum it sounds like.

I guess I should be happy if that's the case, because that means he's all good, but I'm still sad about it.

like to see a longer clip from the beginning. dirty crosscheck up high no doubt, clip starts with muzzin hand pushing off dubois. too bad he didnt just keep skating with muzzin instead of cross checking him. think that initial cross check was the damage done that was right up high must of hurt. i see him getting a game or too dirty high hit.

PLD was frustrated all game, and it didn't help that Torts basically chewed his ear off on camera for 3 minutes. To me, that's a greasy play made by a frustrated player.

Milbury makes guys like Pierre Mcguire a joy to hear on commentary .

Anybody have an old pair of platform shoes to beat this guy with so we can question if hes waiting for a whistle before he gets up ?

Pierre McGuire has a palatable passion for the game, Milbury is just a dipshit. He was a dipshit player, dipshit GM, and now a dipshit commentary.

Hope he's okay. Why did he launch off the boards like that

Far as I can tell he was out of control from the cross check. Possible it jarred his neck based on where he got hit. I don't think it is suspension worthy though, just a bad result.

Just a missed 2 min penalty.

Officiating is shit as usual.

Punish them. They don't because Colin Campbell and psycho dinosaurs like him still exist.

I thought he got cross checked off balance a bit, tried to use his momentum and he back end to rebound off the boards, to get back to his feet quicker, and had a brutal trajectory into a knee. I'm a Leaf fan. It's a freak accident and it bumms me out immensely.

People calling for suspension need to keep in mind that this is the precedent for a 1 game suspension in the playoffs:

((Also the Blue Jackets.... Hmm....))

And if you're only punishing the act, and not the result, then Dubois' crosscheck pales in comparison. It's a 2 minute penalty. If you want to punish based on the results of acts then we can have that talk. But it changes a lot of things going forward.

Your shtick is getting predictable, dude.
It's a legitimate question. Are you going to pretend like he didn't? Why is everyone ignoring that part? Not blaming him at all it;s a just a really odd chain of events that you don't see happen like ever.

Where do you draw the line? A hockey hit is meant to separate players from the puck, but people definitely throw hits to wear down the opposition. There is intent there. Suddenly, based on that standard, you need to suspend them.

It needs to be blatant, or you’re on a very slippery slope.
