I think that's a bit misleading.

He knew that either way, he was moving out of his appartment... whether he was traded or signed long term to stay!
No.

He was packed and ready not to come back to Montreal from the road trip. Now that he signed he won’t unpack since he will buy a house finally.

Guess it all depends what a team needs and asks from from their group. Our guys have been excellent, no question.

I view the penalty kill as a team stat which combines forwards, defensemen and a goalie... not just bottom 6 forwards....but everyone has a difference of opinion.
My take is that the PK success of Dvorak, Anderson, Evans and Armia has made Suzuki much fresher for offensive duties.

Evans deserves credit because he took less than he could have made as a UFA. Hughes deserves credit for standing his ground.
To put the deal in context, Jordan Greenway is about the same age, has similar or weaker production and got $4M AAV as a winger!

Great signing from Kent Hugues. I'm glad to hear that Evans lowered his expectations because he wanted to stay. It shows he believes in the group and love the city.

One thing I think may have factored in here - he was having a career year here before Heineman went down. Since then his offense has dried up. I’m wondering if that also factored into this decision. The demand for him probably wasn’t as hot as it once was. He’s a solid fourth liner but he’d been producing much better than that.

Always find these kind of statements odd — the guy had a 3-year deal, with over $7.5 million in career earnings by the 2024-25 season and he rented a furnished apartment? That’s a choice. He could have easily afforded to buy a house before the current extension.

He probably only pocketed close to half of that. He’s still a pretty young guy with lots of years left. I’m sure he wanted to make sure he could establish himself in the NHL before making any big lifestyle decisions. I respect that.

His place was never guaranteed plus a house must be expensive AF in that neck of the woods

I totally agree. And that is in US$, not CAN$! Whether he stayed or left, he knew he was going to cash in at least $US10M for his next contract...

With that kind of money, why would you even bother to notify your landlord to save a couple of months of lease at $3000 a month and trouble yourself with early packing?

And you don't start packing to go somewhere for a few months, when you don't even know where you'll be after July.

I just don't buy it.. easy to say that kind of stuff afterwards..
