Ray Shero did not want Jaromir Jagr. As he told Jagr to wait while the Pens tried to sign Tyler Kennedy to a contract. Thats what it came down to. Jagr was all about proving he belonged on a top line and to stay in the NHL for years (which he did).

The Penguins wanting to sign Kennedy before Jagr made Jagr feel he would not get that chance, which he did in with the Flyers instead. If the Penguins hade wanted Jagr for real, Jagr would have been there.

Worked out to the best for everyone as Jagr found success and ended up 2nd on the nhl points list while the Pens won 2 stanley cups.

Only clown in the story was Ray Shero who failed and got fired!

Honestly the NHL needs more personality and this would be a good thing to boost ratings and engagement

Signing Jagr would make headlines everywhere and he could retire a Penguin
