And he got PP time on the first unit!!!

Yeah, that's just f***ed up. He has no skill set for a powerplay. He can't pass, he can't one-timer, he has no acceleration to be the first on a rebound and has no hands to create a 2 on 1 somewhere.

I don't get it. Someone please tell me why he's there, honestly at this point, put Arber in front of the net to create havoc. It would be FAR better than stationary Anderson in the slot just chilling

Why not try Newhook on the first line at wing. He's not a centerman and might spark that line. Then you can have Slaf play with a real center that will only help him.
Slaf needs stability. If it’s not to make him play with a guy like Cole or Monahan/Suzuki i don’t want him to be separated from Newhook.

He'll get much more stability with Monahan. Newhook is not a good centerman.

What didn’t you like from Newhook’s game? Their advanced stats are pretty good.

And i’m talking about stability with linemates, he’s been playing with Newhook since pre-season, having him playing with new players means he’ll have to adjust.

22-14-91 was the best line in pre-season, by far.
Newhook as 2A is still a better role than top6 wing for long term development. 17-15-20 is a good together.
Mony on the wing is easier on the hips.

He'll get much more stability with Monahan. Newhook is not a good centerman.

Really sucks to think, but if Dach didn’t get hurt imagine our top 9 post TDL:

CC-Suzuki-Roy
Newhook-Dach-Slafkovsky
Pearson-Monahan-Gallagher

We’d actually be pretty good up front and fun to watch

Well there's always next year! And that will likely be the next year.

Xhekaj on the PP needs to end. Among others as well.

I know his wrister gets through, and it's a valuable skill, but he's not pulling any strings at the point, he doesn't have the offensive vision and decisiveness. I know MSL prides himself a good teacher, but some things you're not supposed to teach at this level.

Once Guhle is back, Xhekaj should start learning how to PK instead.

I don't think anyone you listed is the answer, but since nobody can cut it as a QB on the current roster, the next best thing is a guy who can at least get the puck through traffic.

It's not ideal though. The answer might be in the pipeline with Mailloux and/or Hutson, but it's not on the big club.

Newhook at center does nothing for Slaf. He needs to be bombing up and down the wing and using his speed. The plan was always to have him on the wing. With Dvorak back you can do that and give Slaf an experienced centerman that will help him.

I’m not against it. Monahan between him and Newhook could be great.

The decision on Slaf will be a tough one

He looks better than some of the other garbage we are trotting out there, but he still isn't producing. A few more games of this and the fans will really start to take notice of the lack of production.

Might be worth it to send him down and call Roy up (or Andersson or Stephens if they really want to let Roy simmer)
It will easily take 3 years for Slaf to come into his own (think Tage Thomson). This is the correct path for him. Habs aren't in a win now mode dude. It's a bit silly to ask for change when what is happening is exactly what the plan is.

Nice to see youngsters Gallagher, Pearson, Savard, and Allen show so much growth and poise. Future is bright.

Jokes aside, Pearson and Monahan look good. Hope they stay healthy until the deadline.

Every year before the season, analysts:

"Look for the Sabres to take a big step this year"

Every year:

Buffalo doesn't take any steps.
Long Term Tanking is bad and has chaotic outcomes.

Constantly upgrading the roster and doing flash one season tanks is the clear answer going forward.

LFG!
Pearson = 1st
Gally = 1st
Allen = 1st
Savard = 1st

Trade all those firsts for 1st overall.
YOU'RE WELCOME KENT!!!
