easily the best Jet

Hah! Not even the best Jet D. That was Pardy Orr.

TBH, I think the best Jet was Pavelec but I agree Trouba had another VG game. He has picked it up for the POs.

The best moment was Randorf's reaction to Pardy's goal. "Look at that move!" Priceless.

Myers played better for almost the entire 15 game sprint to make it in. But my god has Trouba stepped it
up. He looks like the only difference maker we have against a team of Anaheim's calibre.

Trouba is really going to be a big part of this team moving forward. He's been fantastic. Not perfect but really awesome

I just imagine him in a season or two with a smart kid like Morrissey on the left side. It would be interesting to see how good Trouba could be with a really skilled puck mover.

Yup..Hope as soon as Morrissey is ready, they tie him to Trouba and let them work magic together. I have high hopes they become an amazing top pairing together.

I feel proud of our scouting department, when I look at threads on the main forum, especially ones pertaining to the 2012 NHL draft. Trouba is now considered to most NHL fans, to be a top 5 pick in 2012, maybe even in the top 3.

Chevy & co. hit gold when they selected the big defenseman from Michigan. I recall watching him in the 2013 World Junior tourney, and I knew he was going to be good. It's amazing he played so well in April with a broken hand.

Agreed. The only thing I worry about with him is that his mistakes are usually self inflicted. I realize that part of his game makes him who he is but if he wants to be a #1 in the NHL he's gonna have to clean it but a bit

If you really want some enjoyment, read some of the reaction when we drafted him. You could probably do the same with Morrissey and Scheifele.

Posts like this is the reason why I'm happy that I was occupied with work at the 2012 and 2013 draft and simply didn't pay much attention to prospects back in 2011.

In the 2014 and 2015 draft, when I loaded up on knowledge beforehand, Chevy has picked exactly the guy I wanted.

Please Understand
Trouba was exactly the one I wanted there. There were sexier assets on the table (Filip Forsberg), but out of all the D that were there, I wanted Trouba.

I didn't pay attention at all to the draft back then so I had no opinion.

The question now is: In a redraft where does Trouba go? I would say somewhere in the top 3 easily.

At this snap shot in time he would probably go in the top 3 with no clear cut #1 in the draft above him. If the trend holds it means we got a lottery level pick out of the 9 slot.

Ok glad I was one of the few happy guys with the pick. Think I might have been the first poster to say I liked his O as well. Nice to be right once in a blue moon.

Had a nice chuckle at my reaction. Still wanted Forsberg and feel he may be as valuable at the forward position as Trouba will be at D. But hey, Troubs is a stud for us  Glad we didn't go for Grigorenko now though.

My 1 st post in the Trouba thread in 2012 on draft day was..... That I was shocked that we did not take Forsberg I also referenced the jets 1.0 taking a big hard hitting D-man 4 th over all A. Ward in 1991 when Philly took Peter Forsberg with the next pick 5 th OA. I wanted it to work out better this time around .... And I think it has. I also added that I was not upset we picked Trouba over Forsberg ( what I thought was a safer pick) and I was getting behind Chevy and supporting his choice.

If I was Edmonton with hindsight and their current roster right now, I'd probably take Trouba first overall in place of Yakupov.

But Trouba may have helped them out of the 3 spot, preventing their shot at a generational talent that is McDavid. Moving forward, they better not make blunders like that (drafting Yak over just about anyone in top 10) again.
