Looked like he went for check annd accidentally elbowed him up high
Hahaha. It might look like that if you're deaf, dumb and blind. Here's on it was in the reality most of us live in: Trouba was caught out of position and stretched out his elbow to hit whatever he could reach.

Should 100% be a suspension. Take that clown out from a game so he might learn to stop leading hits with his elbows.

if we're going to be talking chicken wings and intent to injure, should rodrigues face the same hypothetical consequences for his attempt to do the EXACT SAME THING to Wennberg at the start of the game? Only difference is rodrigues missed completely

Looked like he went for check annd accidentally elbowed him up high…barely touching his head. Rodrigues magically appears on the ice just moments later…clearly faking while lying on the ice. Rangers short handed goal was karma.

It's a bad elbow and worth 5 and a game, but it's kinda sad that Erods first instinct is to fall down with the o_O rather than fight thru it and take the grade A scoring chance Trouba gifted him

That elbow wasn't a good play. Trouba had a horrendous game.

But if that isn't textbook embellishment in Rodrigues then remove the penalty from the rule book.

Dude goes down like he just caught one from the grassy knoll and he's out there for the PP. If he was hit so hard, where was the protocol spotter on the play, getting a hot dog?

Shameless FIFA level antics. No place in this game.

I know it’s bad form to wish injury on anyone, but Trouba is making it really hard to not hope he gets what he deserves.

He’s vaulted into one of the most hated and disrespectful players in the league in 13 games.

And the funny thing is I used to respect the f*** out of him when he first came to NY.

Pretty significant difference when we're talking about headshots, wouldn't you agree?

Also, by the looks of it......even if Rodrigues did connect there, boy would Wennberg's hip be bruised today eh? Devastating impact.

yes missing is different than connecting to the head
especially when you literally are referred to as "the chicken wing" 🤣 Its what Trouba in known for more than anything else - elbows to the head. 🍗

If we want to get technical, Trouba didn't hit Rodrigues' head either (if he did, he wouldn't have returned 2 seconds later.)

The elbow was bad and worthy of the 2 (and would have been worthy of the 5+ suspension had he actually made head contact.) Rodrigues' sell job was pathetic.

Good news buddy, he's been hurt for weeks!

No one is defending him. And while it wasn't a penalty that was probably more luck than anything.

Exactly. But it was his arm not his elbow. Unfortunately the NHL doesn't care about player safet or ALL head hits would be suspendable regardless of inital point of contact.
No one is defending him.

Goes on to defend him.

Trouba is a pee wee head contact compared to Bennett punch to Marchand jaw. Karma my friend.
What was your take on Kulikov hit on Wennberg?

When you defend head shot, shirt should not get into the analysis.
All were dirty, that’s my take

The key is to play for one of the "storied" lol Old 6 teams.
That’s really been great for the Rangers this playoffs, especially in a 6-2 power play disadvantage game. The league loves helping us. Like they helped Boston against Florida. Get a clue.

It’s amazing how someone can have 15 elbow hits a year and all just be ”accidents”

Trouba goes for the hit, misses, and extends his elbow in an effort to get a piece of Rodriguez.

It's a dumb thing to do, but he's not going into it with the intent to elbow him. He either needs to pick his spots better or find a way to curb the impulse to extend his elbow to make the hit.

His play is more stupid and slow than malicious.

I hope the league reads this thread and agrees. He should be suspended. Maybe even forced to retire so his $8 million per year comes off the books.

If they did that, you’d see how quick all the pearl clutchers here change their tune and want Trouba to play Tuesday and beyond.
Rangers should have to keep the cap hit, but he deserves to be suspended still.

This is (at least) his 3rd attempt at targeting the head in these playoffs alone. Not counting his history of doing…exactly the same thing.

How in the world is the league turning a blind eye on this guy?
