Yes, I know that goes a few steps beyond "astronomically unlikely" and well into "what the hell you on, *****" territory, but, c'mon. I'm already bent into irrational shapes by this whole shopping him around thing, even though this is the ideal shopping-around time for defensemen. It implies that Wiz isn't in Kekalainen's extended plans, and I can't see why because I don't see a real replacement. It's freaking bizarre.

Unless this is a great cover job of Wiz asking out due to behind the scenes issues I can't understand moving our best D-man. By pretty much every standard (i.e production, Corsi, Fenwick, etc) Wiz is the best blue liner we have. Unless we are moving him for a ridiculous price (i.e. a young top line forward or top level picks and prospects) trading Wiz isn't an improvement for this team next year.

I think there is very good chance that (shocker) the Dispatch is reaching a little. The team has not asked for Wiz's list in two years and just asked for it again last Monday. To me it seems they are just covering their bases in case an offer comes up that they just can't pass on and they are not necessarily looking to ship him out like the Dispatch is reporting.

on the trade board, I mentioned if DET wants him...their 1st and Martin Frk...saw him at Traverse, kid is a stud...wanted us to draft him...we can probably do better, but at least to start, I like that as a basis

I'm a little surprised they asked him for his list in 2013 and, to my recollection, we didn't hear about it. I'm not thrilled with this development. Say what you will about Wiz but he's a, if not the, key cog to our pp.

I think the Dispatch is being logical here. Portzline has two sources confirming that the Jackets are shopping Wiz and it's confirmed that the club has asked for his 10 team list. Where there's smoke, there's fire. Plus, GMJK did not sign Wiz, Howson did. To me, that's far more reason why the Jackets would trade Wiz, then not.

IMO, Wiz has not been the same player since the playoffs last season. He was nearly in tears with his play and I don't think he's ever recovered his confidence. I like Wiz, I think he's classy and represents this organization well, but if the FO deems he not part of making this a Cup winning franchise, then so be it.

I like Wiz and he seemed to help in the changing of the culture over the last couple of years. But, the playoff series last year definitely separated him from someone like Jack Johnson in my eyes.

Yes, I've heard the injury stuff. Regardless, Wiz just seemed so prone to mental errors as the pressure ratcheted up, whereas in contrast, Jack's mental errors seemed to decrease. It was just a study in contrasts, to me anyways, between two defenseman whose play can be described as inconsistent at best. One who maybe needs a bigger stage to play his best, while the other one who got exposed under the bright lights.

So, I guess I'm fine with Wiz not being deemed as part of the 'core' and if we can get a better package now, might as well get going with it.

I like Wiz a lot, probably more than most. I can live with his defensive issues cause I'm in love with that point shot. For those of you who are somewhat new to the Jackets, we searched for that kind of shot forever.

Having written that, I'd totally trade him right now if the price is right. If not, keep him.

I'd be very curious to find out which 10 teams are on his list. I'd guess Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Buffalo, Carolina, Winnipeg, New Jersey, and two wild cards. Not sure what he thinks of NYI or MTL now.

I have to think teams that need a Power Play specialist with a right shot will be all over The Wiz. Teams like Nashville, Florida, Anaheim, Tampa, MTL, and Minnesota make sense.

I would give my left arm if we could package Wiz with Arty, Cam, Letestu, or a prospect for a legitimate #1 RW. James Neal would be my dream scenario from the teams listed above. But, Tampa has some interesting possibilities as well.

Jeez. With a package like that it better be Taylor Hall.

I missed the missed the 'or' I think. I thought you were packaging all of them together and/or a prospect. I absolutely think that all of those could get Hall. It's somewhat comparable to the Nash deal, really.
