14 goals against in 2 games.......

I still cant believe it......😄

What a Gong-Show so far......

Next 2 games against Roy's Islanders and Boston......They gonna lit us up too.....😅

By the time our "injured" players are back we might be allready out of the playoff-picture if this shitshow in net keeps going.....

Lads, Georgiev was fine in the playoffs last year. Like he wasn't the reason why we lost, but to win the Cup you need goaltending to be a reason why you win. We are not going to have a team as good as the 2022 one anymore or at least for the next 3-4 years, which is why I am emphasising the goaltending more. In the regular season, Avs just need average goaltending, but in the playoffs, I think you need it to increase a level or two, especially on a team with cap restrictions.

Nonetheless, Georgiev has had problems dating back multiple years. His regular season was lit AF, but he let in a ton of weird goals against Seattle. Again, he wasn't the reason we lost, but he didn't help by any means. Last year, he rebounded very nicely against the Jets, but went back mediocre against the Stars. Did we lose because of him? No, but to sound like a broken record, he didn't help us. You can't keep employing a bloke who is just getting by with the bare minimum when the aspirations are Cup or Bust every season. Georgiev might have been fine on our team around 2019 or 2020, but we have simply given him so many chances that it seems like an abusive relationship at this point lol. How many more struggles are we going to have to keep saying we believe in him? I wish him all the best, but even I cannot logically defend any part of him anymore as I have done in the past. Goalers like Gibson and Husso are definitely risky for sure, but some times you gotta take the risk.

I thought Ritchie was invisible last night outside of his reverse hit.

At least against Vegas he had 2-3 great chances to score. Last night he was a ghost.
Being invisible as a rookie isn't entirely the worst thing on earth. I actually think all three rookies have been fine for the most part, but Ritchie is definitely a step below because of how horrible his defensive game is. He is a team worse -4 and that doesn't come across as pure coincidence IMHO.

The f*** you can't. This shit has been happening since last season. And Annunen has come in cold both games. I'm sick and tired of George. Anything would be better at this point.
Then you should talk to management. Coach has to go with the goalies given to him. Whether we want to admit it or not, Georgiev is the most talented goalie on the Avalanche roster. There’s nothing to be gained by the coach publicly roasting him. I’m even surprised Bednar said “not good enough” about him and Annunen for the season opener.

Then start the rookie. Bednar get too much f***ing leeway.

There is no reason Justus hasn't taken the starting role. He was better the second half of last season and clearly the team is calmer in net around him. Maybe he isn't as talented, but at this point the Avs need to take a page from the Oilers and jettison Georgie to the minors.

He was actually worse in game one though, hardly seems possible but he was. Made ONE meaningful save in that stretch vs. the Golden Snitches.

I don’t think he’s a viable option at all. He’s a worse version of Jonas Johansson and Johansson SUCKED royally.

The problem I have with

At this point I think he’s just passive aggressively pushing the Avs to trade for a real goalie.
Sort of...Bednar understands the cap situation so right now, he's trying to truly break Georsieve, make him quit so the Avs have the cap space to then actually acquire a goalie.

I'll be honest, I've watched us very little since we won the cup since I didn't have the motivation to tbh.

But our forward group is a shadow of what we used to have despite MacKinnon possibly getting even better which is a shame because it does affect the goaltending. But the goaltending is still absolute shit

Our forward group will be fine if we get Lehky, Val, Landy and Drouin back. I just don’t get how people are surprised we are losing games with that many key players out. We are missing four top 6 forwards for god’s sake. Just go over the names we are missing in your head and you’ll realize why we are losing.

The sad thing is that scoring isn't remotely an issue despite all the guys that are out of the lineup. The team is good enough to win, except for one little thing...

Sample is too small. Avs faced a goalie that had a bad game in Vegas and then the worst team in the league. It will become an issue against a real team if we don't get some guys back.

It’s not just scoring though. If we had a full lineup, it would be a different game. We’d have more offensive possession, less defensive breakdowns etc… we are missing top defensive forwards who would not only provide offense, but significantly help defensively. Even if Georgiev still sucked, we’d still give up less goals which would lead to wins. We could cover up our goaltending issues with a full lineup, something we can’t do right now

I think people are just upset at the goalies letting in 30% of the shots. With the full compliment of forwards maybe….maybe they could outscore that goalkeeping.

We wouldn’t allow 14 goals in 2 games with a full lineup. I’m not saying we would win both games, but I’m pretty sure we at least beat CBJ and we’re 1-1 instead of 0-2, or maybe we win both games. All I know is we would be a much better team if we weren’t missing all those players

I get what you are saying. But it is still horseshit management to ask a fully healthy lineup to have to outscore Georsieve.

There is no excuse why Georgiev started the season as the #1G

Clearly the biggest roster issue and nothing was done to address it, absolutely nothing. It’s not some unforseen mistake either, everyone should have known you don’t go into the season without goaltending changes. Now they are left scrambling after the goalie market has gone dry.
