First I've heard that he parties.

His complete and utter disappearance is probably my biggest disappointment of the season.
I don’t track what these guys do in their personal lives at all, not really something I ever want to do. But I know he’s out on the town a good amount. He’s also a kid. Maybe he’ll grow up soon.

The 2000's teams used to be out a lot - they would walk up to Chippawa. I remember the LaFontaine teams being out in groups in the early '90's too.

Are we talking Jay McKee-Brian Campbell level of being out/wingmaning for Warrener style or are we talking O'Reilly, passed out drunk repeatedly in a snowbank while his wife is about to pop with their first child style?

I noted that Adams mentioned "getting him into the weight room" as one of the examples of the ways the coaches are working with him. On the one hand, I'm glad to hear that they recognize he is not physically where he should be, on the other hand, it's very concerning that that's the case. He was one of the kids I was watching to see what condition he came back in. Was disappointed to see that he still looks like a scrawny kid.

Which is why, channeling Drury ruthlessness, I would give his spot in the lineup to Kulich and leave him in the pressbox indefinitely with no regrets.

I (mostly) hung up my drinking hat right around the time he came to Buffalo, so I didn’t investigate personally. But I bartended last year and earlier this year. His name comes up once in a while.

I don’t dig in into specifics like I knew with guys like Gus and Ennis. I just have close friends that see Jack out on Chippewa or Elmwood all the time.

He's an adult. He can do as he pleases, as long as his job performance doesn't suffer.

But if he compromised his rehab, off-season prep, or in-season readiness, that's obviously a huge problem. I doubt Quinn is capable of Ruthian achievements after nights on the town.

The off season is for weight training. The kid clearly arrived unfit and unprepared but was still given 1/3 of a season to try and straighten himself out. One empty net goal later he’s finally where he belongs, in the press box.

On the other hand, imagine the silly contract Adams would have given Quinn if he chipped in 20-25 goals this season. We might have dogged a massive cap bullet here.

OK - but I would think the average conditioning level has increased dramatically since the McKee era.

This is all highly disappointing to me. I did not realize this was even an issue with Quinn. I had high hopes for him this year. I thought the young crop of players were much more serious about conditioning, nutrition and sleep. But yeah - he's a kid. The good news is that, if he treats this benching as a wake-up call, he can start maturing and eventually improving his game. He's got the talent.

I think he was the primary piece in the Necas talks, and has emotionally checked out after they fell through. Pure speculation, but once a player gets dangled, they usually play like shit.

I'm not giving up yet. I thought Tage was going to suck when he was Quinn's age. I've seen enough talent to think he can turn this around quickly if he gets his head straight. He's got an elite shot, good hands and has shown he can be a puck hound when he wants to be. He also seems to be well liked in the room as far as I can tell. There is no reason why he shouldn't be able to fix whatever the issue is. Anyway - it would be stupid to trade him now and you can't send him to Roch, so there isn't really much to discuss.

Ruff's given him a lot longer leash than he probably should have by continuing to play him for so long. Quinn has to un-f*** Quinn.
It was kind of a sarcastic comment.

This is exactly why they should’ve traded some of these young prospects when they had the chance. There is very little chance they all develop the way we want.

Similarly, there is very little opportunity for unlooked for development in the minors when all of their top 6 are high draft picks. They didn't space out their pipeline, just jam everyone into it at once. And Adams does seem very attached to certain players as though he wrote them into future lineups with a tattoo gun instead of a pencil.

It's why no real organization hires people for positions they have absolutely no qualifications for.
