Prospect Info: Jack Hughes or Kaapo Kakko?

nash was never overly creative. to me, very mechanical. for a big man, very passive exterior player who stayed outside too much. was never a huge nash fan. newsflash .... :laugh:

kakko looks like a hybrid of kovalev skills and barkov style plus some jagr vibe too.

We get it you hate Nash, we saw your hot take on him daily. While you are at it tell us, about McIlrath as well and how Quinn hates ADA.

you do not get to pick 1st. The last game Hughes played when team usa lost in the third period, on how he was a taylor hall/parise trying to will the team to win, was all i needed to see. But im not Shero.

I love both kids for different reasons. If the devils take Kakko you get Jack Friggen Hughes to line up behind or in front of Zibanejad that’s no joke. The 2 spot is the best spot here. You take BPA don’t have to make the decision

Kakko. Favorite player. Now, how much is Erik Karlsson? Zibby, Hank and Karlsson. A good environment for Kaapo. Especially in PP. Not having to worry about Lumquest and all the soft goals a finnish goalie never should have let in.

Kakko kinda fits what we want more and while there is likely a long term skill difference it’s not huge I don’t think.

I’d prefer a bigger, grittier player if the skill gap isn’t very large.

Having said that I’m ecstatic about the prospect of either. Having an American superstar center on NYR would be great as wel.
 
So happy you guys moved up to #2, my dream of seeing Kakko play for the Rangers lives on, just have to hope the devils don't mess things up and decide to pick him #1.

It would be so nice to see one of Finland's best prospects end up playing for a big market franchise that seems to be having a solid vision of what they are and where they are headed going forward.

From a timing standpoint I think the Rangers is the best possible situation for Kakko, I'd say the way the Ranger re-build is set up Kakko should be hitting his prime just as the team starts to become a serious contender again.

I'm just so glad that it looks like the nightmare scenario of Kaapo ending up in Edmonton, Buffalo or Ottawa (heck, even LA) won't come true.

Well, that was never going to happen.

I am kinda sad that Colorado couldn't unite Kakko and Rantanen, but Rangers is one of the better options outside of that. Actually probably the best one, a big market team, playing on the Eastern coast, a team that has not had too many Finns in the past.

Hopefully Devils pick Hughes, although that would be kinda win-win for all parties after all (Finns would finaly get 1oa, Rangers end up with good player anyway and so will the Devils).

devils board overwhelmingly wants hughes...good news for us, I like kakko better...on a side note hughes looked a little dejected on tv last night, he probably wanted to go to the Rangers.
 
I think we need to pump the brakes here a little bit. I’ve seen “generational” and “franchise “ player thrown around a lot in this thread. I have not been under the impression that either of these guys are necessarily franchise players let alone generational.

I think they both have legit 1st line PPG upside but are either one really considered to be “franchise” players?

I really HOPE they are, please convince me they are.
