Correct... The infallible polls nail it year after year. Just look where they've slotted Matthews since his year 2.

I'm not saying its infallible. Its not really a predict, its more of an opinion poll of that point in time. But at the end of the day, just because Sabre fans think Eichel is on the same level as Mack, does not make it true. Eichel's have to prove these polls wrong. I bet Matthews drops below Eichel if this keeps up, so he's doing good so far this year.

Some here just wanted to say Eichel is incredibly fun to watch - because it is a bit surprising to some of us. Saying he is more fun to watch is not deciding who is better - it is a pure preference that can't be disproved. Last night they said the coach told the team to try to make sure McDavid and Drais had little space - Eichel gave Drais little space all night long - right out the gate - he was not scared of them - fun to watch- in addition to some great set-ups for his teammates with one finish.

What was the date on that? Like a week ago or something? I can't find the date...oh there it is.

Hall at 22
Pastrnak at 25.....yup seems right, no?
Carslon at 45

Is this the thing that you were touting? Of course I would take Giordano over Eichel.

Show me a post you made last year where you had Pasternak in the top 5.
Aren't we talking about now? I am not the one touting some ranking from September that has Carslon at 45 and Hall 22.

That was you touting this, and you stand by these rankings do you?

Or are you saying they are wrong. It was you who brought this up not me.

So basically you don't have any posts that can show me your opinion has any more value than than anyone else's here. I'm just showing you rankings from a poll done by tsn. Its not imaginary, you linked it. Eichel isn't on Mack's level, you kind of just have to deal with that until he proves otherwise.

Right, but you are the one chiming in telling me how the hockey world sees it then when you bring up TSN rankings and they are not accurate you change your course.

Got it.

This is your post not mine. I did what you asked me to do and the rankings are not very accurate.

This is your post not mine.

I didn't change my course. The tsn rankings do not have eichel anywhere near mack and represents the opinion of lots of experts. Can you provide evidence showing Eichel ranked higher? You are changing course by bringing up Pasternak who is unrelated to this.

I know Eichel is your favorite player, but you opinion does not trump the opinion of almost everyone else who watchs hockey.

By the way, MacK is not second on TSN's list he is 4th.

You also said MacK was the second best NHLer and almost on the level of McDavid. You told me to check out TSN and TSN doesn't even have MacK 2nd.

I used your source NOT mine. You told me to look on TSN.

And where is Eichel?

I keep saying this...

Eich has seriously changed his game this year. His speed is on display all game now. I'm not joking when I'm saying he'd show you his speed maybe once a game in previous years. He was constantly playing like he was trying to set up a PP, even at 5 on 5.

No one will notice unless Sabres make playoffs and get on big stage

lol what are you talking about? tsn rankings??? who cares????

from watching both of them play this year it's pretty clear that they're both in the upper tier of elite centers playing right now. why do fans of teams always get so offended when players on different teams of similar skill are compared to the players they root for? they can both be amazing. it's not rocket science. lighten up and enjoy the high level of skill in the league right now

Why are you offended that I think Mack is on another level than Eichel?

I'm not offended. Judging by their production this year they are on the same level. That just makes you wrong.

I'm not offended that you want to compare Eichel to Mack. Thats great. But it also makes you wrong because Mack is still producing much more. The production difference between Eichel and Mack is bigger than Mack and McDavid.

At least Eichel is being compared to Mcjesus again, although somewhat premeasured (Eichel needs a couple of 120+ point seasons for it to be legit debate imao ) was getting tired of Barzal vs Eichel stuff. you know what they say the cream always rises to the top.

Mack is better than Eichel for now. I think they were similarly hyped as prospects in their respective draft years. I think they are very, very close talent wise. But they are talented in different ways.

Mack is a faster skater and has faster hands.

Eichel is stronger on the puck in space and along the boards, and his elite wrist shot is finally emerging this season.

Since they have both missed a ton of games in their careers lets extrapolate point per game to get an 82 game point total and average it over seasons.

Mack was a 56 point player his first 4 seasons then jumped to 103 for the next 2 seasons and is on pace for 127 this season. And he has been missing his best winger(rantanen) for most of this season.

Eichel was a 69 point player his first 3 seasons and then jumped to 87 last year, or a 74 point player his first 4 seasons . He's on pace for 111 this year.

Eichel is 2 seasons younger than Mack.

Mack paced at 107 points his 5th season, Eichel is in his 5th season now and pacing at 111.

Although eichels floor was nearly 20 points higher than Macks he's making that same big 5th year jump in production that mack had. Albeit, only a 30 point leap rather than 50 because his floor was already 20 points higher.

Guy's been one of the best centres in the league for a couple seasons now. He just plays in a market no one cares about, on teams that have truly been dog shit.

Give him a solid coach and a better than 0 supporting cast... he's showing that he can hang.

Might as well get this out of the way too, point-per-game comparison between MacKinnon and Eichel:

MacKinnon:

Year 1 (82 games): 0.77
Year 2 (64 games): 0.59
Year 3 (72 games): 0.72
Year 4 (82 games): 0.65
Year 5 (74 games): 1.31
Year 6 (82 games): 1.21
Year 7 (29 games): 1.55

Eichel:

Year 1 (81 games): 0.69
Year 2 (61 games): 0.93
Year 3 (67 games): 0.96
Year 4 (77 games): 1.05
Year 5 (31 games): 1.35

MacKinnon and Eichel are pretty comparable up to and including Year 5, although Eichel consistently improved every year, while MacKinnon doubled his production between Year 4 and Year 5.

I can see Eichel overtaking MacKinnon, but I can also see them hovering around each other.
