Like I said, blast away for this run. It's warranted based on what we've seen.

Harping on "1 goal in 39 games" is not an argument. He's a 0.41 ppg player in the playoffs and a 0.47 ppg player in the reg season.

Gotcha....two assists every 5 playoff games is cool...see he isn't that far off his regular season production. All things equal. Makes sense.

No argument here.....lets keep those 2 assists every 5 games rolling!

Two things. First, Miller is trying to be too fancy and find the perfect play, he just needs to shoot the puck more and take a page out of the new-and-improve Nash's book: drive the net with the puck. Second, his defensive zone coverage and his affinity for high-risk flying the zone before we clear the puck is killing us (he's not the only one: Grabner, Hayes, and Kreider have been terrible with this all playoffs).

*takes a giant sip of haterade & clears throat*

Who wants to explain to me why Stepan is being trashed everywhere, and JT Miller is out here hiding in plain sight?

Stepan had the bigger role, bigger contract and would get a bigger return in a trade. Miller's also 3 years younger while trending upward 3 years in a row.

And no one has excused Miller from anything that happened in the playoffs.

Id be interested to see if Miller was seriously injured in the playoffs..the Rangers didnt mention anyone at all...

if he wasnt injured, he deserves all the haterade you have to give him. he was horrendous.

When AV mentioned that someone needed surgery I thought for sure it'd be Miller. I don't know if we've heard anything about injuries though yet, right?

I'm ready to know.

I believe AV said possibly but if we have not heard about it by next week it probably was not needed. JT was one of a handful of Rangers that had a poor playoff but I will take heart in the fact that at age 23/24 he scored 22 goals (again) and was second on the team with 56 points.

I dream of a world where people stop reading into playoff boxcar stats to decide a player's quality

1 goal in 40+ playoff games. It's hard to ignore at this point.

I think its partly an aberration for a young player. Hayes did not score a goal in this years playoffs or last years playoffs as well. He has 2 goals in 34 playoff games and less points per playoff game than JT.

If JT played 40 games in a row then I would be concerned but broken up in to small segments over 4 years it is more likely to be a bit fluky just as Tanner Glass scoring 4 points in 7 games this playoff season.

It's hard to blame it on injuries when that stretches over the course of 3 post-seasons. But anything to think of excuses for Just Terrible Miller.

He had back-to-back good regular seasons but he needs to do more. Same goes for Kreider and Hayes, by the way... Before someone accuses me of singling out Miller

Summing up games across seasons like that in the small sample size that is the playoffs is a dangerous game.

Thing about Miller though is that his struggles started in March and continued into the post-season. Everyone was saying "oh, he's gotta be injured, that's what it is". But, he never sat, and no injury news has leaked.

So. Who knows?

Miller is a better playoff player than Hayes, that's for damn sure. The goal scoring disappears for God only knows what reason, but he was still useful as a playmaker. JT is at 0.4 ppg and Hayes is at 0.29.

Not fair to lump Krieder in here. In 77 playoff games, he has 23 goals. That is better than virtually anyone else on the roster. Yes, he was counted on to do more this past year and did not, but still. He shows up and scores goals.

Not to mention that everyone's favorite hobbit is at like .5 PPG in the postseason.

A lot of guys need to be better, especially in the top 6.

This past post-season, Zibanejad had 9 points. Kreider, Miller and Hayes combined for 10.

Those 3 need to be better.

While I agree Rasp, how do you ignore 1 goal in 40 games?

Other teams secondary players step up. Pageau. Sheary. You need that in the playoffs.

Hayes and Miller disappeared.

That's not saying much

It's not, and JT needs to be better, but I'm going to keep funneling my hate towards Kevin Hayes because that ****ing oaf has been horrible and hasn't been getting enough flak for it. Lost 20 pounds this year, and most of it was brain cells.

Because it's an arbitrary number with no context or analysis put into it

It's very easy to ignore actually

True. You can't sum up a bunch of data across seasons that literally only has "playoff game" in common with each other and draw a conclusion.

You want something to look at that makes sense?

Miller since March 1, including playoffs (5v5, Corsica):

31 games
-1.58 relCF%
-2.97 relxGF%
-9.99 relGF%

[all situations]
3 goals
11 points (9th on the team)
1.3 P60 (13th on the team, 12th not including Puempel's 7 games).

Woof-city.

How much worse was Kevin Hayes?
