I really don't want to trade him to be honest. He's one of the most versatile forwards that we have and one of the few who isn't soft.

Yes true, but someone in New York org. need to talk with him - he is only 24 and need to have a different mentality when he is out competing next game. He won`t improve his game going on the ice frustrated - it will be the exact opposite experience, and perform a lot worse. I`ve notice this for a while now with JT.

I blame Hayes for most of Miller's struggles tbh. JT's trying to do too much to make up for it. He actually had a 60% 5v5 CF last game.

I think we should keep Miller - he is one of the few players who is not soft on this team, and he had a great regular season, and he can play a #center position role.
He is still young and for some players it take time to adapt to playoffs hockey - different mindset.

IMO, I'd move Hayes before Miller. I happen to think Hayes' perceived value around the league is higher than his actual value.

One goal....one....in 36 career playoff games. With him getting regular shifts and PP time.

At what point can we expect his "mindset" to adapt?

@Mandar You need to be patience with young players - and keep in mind JT have two seasons now with 22 goals in the regular season, and he trend positive compare to 2015 season with 13+ pts. this year.

He have skills & talent he just need to figure it out in playoffs.

What's Miller's future going forward? Not so great output so far but from what I can gather possibly injured and is deployed as the third scoring line?

He was our best forward in the regular season, but he slowed down late in the regular season, and has been awful in the playoffs.

I think its more likely that he is injured than other players that are struggling. There has long been a thought that he's dealing with a hand injury. If not though, he deserves a lot of blame. His play has been awful the last few months.

He really is just playing completely different than usual right now. Not playing anything like he did most of the regular season.

Has anyone noticed he makes more backhand passes than anyone I have ever seen? If it is his LEFT thumb and maybe forefinger, it would be painful to make forehand passes. On his backhand maybe not so much. Makes sense, right?
Just a thought.

I am baffled that everyone is going out of their way to make up excuses for Miller's poor performance.

I am baffled that you aren't at least open to the idea that Miller is nursing an injury. Especially after all the beatings he took this season and during the playoffs so far.

It's not called "making excuses." It's called "speculation."

Was he injured the last 2 post-seasons as well? No. Miller just isn't at that stage in his career yet where he is a play-off performer.

1 goal in 36 postseason games across multiple seasons is a large enough sample size at this point to assume he's not playing injured.

I'm a big JT fan. I want to keep him. With that being said I do not think he is much more injured than most players right now. If he was injured we would not have played him in two weeks of meaningless games at the end of the season. We had some guys take some brutal hits vs the Habs. I'm sure their bodies are sore and might have some injuries as well. I think JT will come around. He is not the first young guy to struggle in his early year playoffs. Hayes and Kreider have had their own struggles in this seasons playoffs. So has Stepan. We cant throw full seasons out the window based on 8 games. People overreact to some short spurts especially in the playoffs. That is how some guys like Larry Brown end up with huge contracts.

The thing with JT is that we've seen him make pretty decent strides of improvement from year to year. Cutting back on penalties, improving play in each zone, physicality, improving with puck management, can now slot anywhere around the lineup effectively..that's the biggest reason I would be hesitant to trade him unless it was for some bonafinde can't-miss player. Of course there are nights where he doesn't look great, but he is head and shoulders above where he was even just a couple years ago.
