Rumor: Trade Rumors & Proposals Thread | No More Pacifism For the Oilers?

I don't get posts like these. What did they give up exactly? A mid 2nd round pick is the biggest asset given up. This is what you get for 2nd rounders, 3rd line player. Hell, Holland gave up a legit prospect+3rd for an aging #4C. That's a huge overpay.

a mid 2nd is relatively valuable, not to mention a couple interesting prospects in a shallow prospect pool

Frederic is a UFA next year, so seems steep for a bottom 6 injured rental

Florida wins the cup and still goes aggressive for a top pairing D in Seth Jones.

Frederic and some bottom pairing D are all the Oilers going to add?

I think the Oilers are still looking at Binnington. Connor probably wants him and if he really wants something I suspect the Oilers are apt to try and make it happen. Skinner for Binner @50% retained + 1st I think would more or less work. Blues have been playing Hofer more actually, but Skinner as a 1B likely is OK for them too because he can at least play and keep them in a playoff hunt.
There were rumours that we were looking at him last year too. I think, if our current management has interest in him, the time has to be now to make that deal. Any goalie upgrade please.

I feel like it's going in this direction too.

Similar to Team Canada, the Oilers have targeted veteran players that have been around the block before. For the most part, we have that in every position except net. Binnington is the only guy available that checks that box.

I know he has a NMC, but it sure is fun to think about doing whatever it takes to pry Sorokin from the isles before Lamoriello croaks.

$8.25M for 8 years is very reasonable for a legit 1G, especially given the rising cap. He's right up there with Hellebyuck and Shesterkin for GSAx over the last few years. I recall seeing a tweet (can't recall from who) saying that private models have him even higher, as apparently public models don't properly capture how brutal the isles are defensively.

Sure would be the out of left field move we would all love. As for cost? No idea. don't really care, barring the big boys of course.

It would’ve been nice to go in that direction but Bob saying he thinks the tandem will stay the way it is makes me feel like he’s pouring cold water on anything that’s hopeful for a goalie change

I was going to ask what happened to your SuperMcDavid avatar but there are two of you in this thread!

We need someone named ManofSteal with a gif of Binner or Gibson in an Oiler uniform.

They should've also targeted Geekie in the Boston trade, really like him as a 6'3 scoring C/W. Boston is in a freefall and a fast track to rebuild anyways, let them run Lindholm and Zacha as their top 2Cs.
