Siberian said:What a loser JJ is. Here is what he said:
"Just because Canada is a class act team and Russia is big in taunting and everything," Johnson said. "We just like the way Canada carries itself, and I have a (University of Michigan) teammate on Canada."
Taunting and everything? I wonder what that really means? This probably means this: Russia kicked our butts hard last night and I am such a poor loser so I will try to diminish Russian team as musch as I could in the press. What a LOSER! This guy has no class at all!
Truth of it is that Russia has been known to get cocky in tournaments and taunt their opposition. It happened last WJC, and I didn't see it this time, but it wouldn't have surprised me.
As for Jack Johnson being "classy" because of his comment, I disagree, but it certainly shows he can put things in perspective.
I was quite angry about the elbow by Johnson, but I was more mad at the Tournament Brass for not doing the right thing, because as far as I'm concerned Johnson was just frustrated and angry at losing. He's a great talent, and I can't wait to see him play in the NHL. That being said, he should have been suspended. My beef was never with him, but with the IIHF.
Besides, after what went down at the end of the Russian game (regardless of who "started" it) of course the Americans are happy to cheer for Canada, the Russian game turned into a disgraceful finish (both teams included), and the only reason it didn't get really out of hand is because Russia has to play Canada still.
