We are destined to finish 9th-10th in the standings, not bad enough on paper to be the worst, but not good enough on the ice and behind the bench to make the playoffs.

G:
-Vanek, Hodgson, Ehrhoff
-Kaleta blocking shots like a champ
-Miller's save on Neal
-Ott agitating like a pro

B:
-Stafford, Gerbe on the PP
-Pominville
-Giving up the lead like 3 seconds after getting it and then not even finding a way to drag it in to OT

U:
-Giving up 2 goals before I even got the stream queued up on my computer
-Lindy Ruff's PP unit assemblage

So let's say Miller goes nuclear and demands change or a trade. What happens?

1) Miller traded
2) Ruff fired
3) Vanek/Poms/Myers traded

Buffalo Bills middling Baby!

You suck enough to not matter, but don't suck enough to get the premiere young talent.

That, my friends, is sports no-mans land.

Bad
Hodgson on the first goal. Tossed aside by well known power forward Pascal Dupuis then loses coverage.

Ugly

Pommer defensively. Just plain bad decisions with the puck. On the game tying goal he could have cleared the puck a few times before the final turnover that kept the puck in.

Sulzer can't play defense.

Do you think Pominville was at fault? at least impacting Hodgson's decision with the puck?

(what was pommer doing there?)

Cody was dangerous for most of the game, I think he was almost as good as Vanek was today.

Hodgson now has twice as many points as Kassian does this year.(albeit in 3 more games). What a trade, I think Hodgson will be our new version of Chris Drury, just one that is younger and possibly even better offensively.Ennis has a few similar qualities that Briere had.Hodgson-Ennis can be this team's era of the co-caps, and the fact that they are 22 and 23 respectively, these 2 guys can anchor down the middle for 10+ years.Grigorenko is the wildcard, but I think everyone is hoping that he pans out to be a PPG franchise center. If that is the case, it will be nice to be so deep at center that either Ennis or Cody will have to play on the 3rd line

"Lindy Ruff has been fired as head coach of the Buffalo Sabres. We're also going to report that Doug MacLean has been signed as our new head coach. Doug has been signed to a 6 year contract, and will be retaining all other members of the coaching staff."

G:
Kaleta's shotblocking. This guy needs to get some love not only for his checking and intimidation. He also has some hockey sense and reads the play pretty good. Plus, I guess it takes guts to go down and get shot like that.
Ennis' confidence with the puck. Some nifty moves in the corner, and I think my heart missed a beat when he decided to keep the puck on his blade inches from the own goal line instead of just getting it out of the way.
Most of the game. Seems to be lesser turnovers and better passing. Not all the time though, but still, I feel the team is improving.
The comeback.

B:
The start.
The end.
Final score.

U:
Hodgon's turnover that led up to Pens first goal. NOT OK!
Pominville's turnover that led up to Pens third. Sure, good play by Niskanen, but it was still a poor decision. Don't try to make a play at that point, just get it out.
Refs. I'm getting sick of seing Vanek get checked from behind around the net. Who decided that he's fair game? Not that the Sabres usually capitalize on the PP anyways, I'm more worried that one of this (cross-)checks from behind will cause injury.

i bet you don't fault Ennis on the GWG?

I don't know why you would. Ennis deflected a Crosby pass. He wasn't in control of the puck and then made a weak clearing attempt. Folks are so eager right now (Myself included) to hammer players they have issues with that fair analysis has gone out the window. We are definitely a bitter bunch right now.

Now on to my player bashing

Sulzer, who is weaksauce defensively, had Crosby walk around like he was a pylon. He certainly deserves some ridicule on that goal. I'd blame Lindy for having him out against Crosby but who else can we put out there?

It's time to **** or get off the pot with roster alterations. If you're going to try and save this season it needs to be now. If not stop showcasing Leo/dressing dead weight and give guys some tryout time.

A competent PP wins this game

Even the 5 on 3 was terrible, they just got a great deflection from Vanek. There's just ZERO movement from anyone. They setup in the zone and just pass it around without a single person ever moving more than a couple feet. It's insanely easy to defend against.

i just watched the play 5 times, and your Sulzer criticism makes no sense. If he continues the pursuit of Crosby he leave the left side wide open for whoever that was.

Ennis stopped skating, when he could've closed out towards the puck/martin, preventing the shot attempt.

Why is Miller sitting almost inside the net on that goal?
