Its a fair contract. Hes been a stud for us and was deserving of a significant raise. Weve also been a bubble team and have alot of high end potential on d. This deal won't kill us if provys excellence is surpassed by others

No doubt. Besides if any Flyer has the best deal in the league from a team perspective, it’s Couturier by far. 4.33 million for a #1 center who can also shutdown the opponent best pivot while also being the top PKer on the team is grand ****ing larceny
And if I'm his agent his next deal is going to be a long negotiation. And the Flyers are going to need an armored car.

Every contract has a bit of money built into what the team expects the player will become. Very few contracts are paid for the value the player is today.

This is a very good deal. Over $7M would have been too much, under $6M would have been a steal. This is right in the sweet spot for both sides.

Glad it got done so Provy can start camp with everyone else.

Onwards and upwards; just get TK in and Hagg out and we're ready to go.
Unfortunately it appears as if Hagg is sticking around.

He better not play a single second.

What makes you say that in particular? They weren't going to move him with Provy unsigned. The next week is crucial with Hagg.

After all, to move him someone has to want to take him.

I am not a Fletcher Fan. In this whole offseason I have only liked 2 moves. Moving back from 11 to 14, and Signing Provy to this contract. He did very well here.

Now THIS is the type of news I want to find when I wake up in the morning and check my phone. The worrying is over and replaced by a gentle kiss in the forehead.

If they realized what a problem Hagg is, they’d have moved him already. They didn’t need to wait for Provorov to sign because they already have enough defensemen, even if Provorov held out and Hagg was gone.

Sanheim, Niskanen, Braun, Ghost, Morin, Myers, Friedman. There’s 7 D right there. Prosser could come up in an emergency too.

At this point they might just keep him around as a backup in case of injury.

Maybe they start with 8 D and hope another team gets hits with some injuries on D and gets desperate enough to give up something of value for Hagg?

Yeah, I know, I’m reaching

Just because fans don't like Hagg doesn't mean Fletcher feels any urgency to make a move before camp even begins.

For one thing, Fletcher probably wants AV to look at everyone for a couple weeks, then let AV tell him who he thinks doesn't belong.
For another, why not wait and see what GM looks at his defensemen and grimaces, and makes a call, or if someone goes down with an injury.

The Cap will be a mess under Fletcher

Next year could be interesting. They'll have, once TK signs, around 11-12 million for 3-4 players.

But then it kicks off a lot the year after that. It stands at 35 million in free space (ignoring any more signings + TK). Good chunk of change. Plus JVR could be moved.

Hopefully it’s something like that, instead of the worst case scenario where Fletcher actually thinks Hagg is good enough to keep.
