Player Discussion Ivan Demidov: Welcome to Montreal

Really good game from him. He make great progression since playoffs start. Different type of game than season, but he show his high offensive ability. This kid will be a superstar, for sure.

We can see right away that playing with real offensive players on pp1 that he will be elite

The biggest mission for Hugues this summer is find a Center to play with him or an elite Winger and try Newhook or Dach in the middle ( I would prefer 2 top 6 guys to play with him but that is a big ask for 1 summer )

Its crazy to think that he enters a playoff team usually when you draft a talent like this the team sucks for years after

If Newhook keeps playing the way he is at wing, we only need a second like C not a winger. Plus we need to decide on Dvorak. Do we keep him and have extra depth with Beck? Do we start moving prospects in packages to secure the team?

My biggest need is a #2 C and a Top-4 D with either a shot or plenty of physicality.... or both. We need to move on from Matheson though and I'm not sure the team will. Reinbacher win have a spot in the Top-6 but he should be penciled in as #7 in case of injuries.

Ideally I think we ice this;

Caufield-Suzuki-Slafkovsky
Newhook-????-Demidov
Anderson - Evans - Gallagher
Heineman - Xhekaj/Beck - Kapanen
Laine, Dach, Roy

Hutson - ????
Guhle - Reinbacher
Xhekaj - Carrier
Struble

Montembeault
Dobes

Laine and Dach are huge question marks. If they came back solid defensively and put up 50 each offensively, that would make us really deep.

There are trades to be made. And we have guys like Jared Davidson we will need to make a decision on soon.

This was a different Demidov from last game. More confidence, more involved, a bit dirty and I think he's getting the message that to win, you got to put everything you have on the ice.

If he takes another giant step like this, watch out, if he takes two giant steps like this...we have a beast on our hands.

BRAVO DEMIDOV

Just look at those numbers for the Demidov line…

He played so well last night

You know he is going to be a truly great player because he despite being a scorer he still looked awesome without even getting on the board

Bright future!
That's what I wanted to see from him. Rotenberg prepared him well for this.

He skated hard, played physical, back checked more than usual. Had a shot on goal on the goaltender's team logo.

Yeah the chances of him only getting better as the series goes on seems quite good. That’ll be a tremendous help.

Just imagine how good we’ll be when he’s firing on all cylinders. Really excited

Demidov maked the PP better. The PP is better with Demidov. Way better than before.
At least he's now getting passes from the point on the first wave.

There was an instance yesterday where Demidov was on the right, and everybody else (3 MTL players and 4 Caps) were on the left half of rink, and instead of passing to Demidov to open up the play, Matheson passed it back to a habs player in close quarters. The decision-making on that guy...
