Player Discussion Ivan Demidov: Welcome to Montreal

Even in positivity, it's sarcasm. Negativity, it's sarcasm aswell.

But I will tell you something, I'm 100% drunk when I comment in HFboards when games time. So that's why.
He played y'all. This is the greatest heel turn of all time.

Demidov will be just fine, I mean I'm not trying to make excuse for him but he did play an entire season in Russia, 65gp and another 14 in the playoffs.

Caufield came over after 31 games in the NCAA and 10 regular season games before playoffs.

He has already looked much better in the 2nd half of last night's game compared to game 1. I'm really not concerned about his play and how he will develop into a beast!
I've honestly seen enough with demidov. That first game alone had me convinced he will be one of leagues best one day. He is so good. Playoffs with linemates & ice time he had in game 1 is a tough adjustment. That's like throwing Hutson into playoffs last year after wings games. Idk how good he'd look but like you said game 2 was already better. I expect him to shine in game 3 at home with last change.

There is no need to worry with this gem of a player. Guarantee superstar for me

Play him with 2 grinders like his first shifts where he scored points this is where MSL f'ed up when he put him with Laine and Newhook,
????

His first point was an assist scored by Newhook.

I get hating on a player. It's common. But at least take 10 seconds to confirm your post before you write such nonsense that it completely invalidates anything you ever write again.

Caufield had 1 point in his first 5 playoff games. You're remembering it wrong. No immediate impact.

There was a lot of hype.... Then next season 1 goal in 30 games.

That was after learning in the NCAA for 2 years. Demidov hasn't had that opportunity.
I mean I’m not remembering it wrong, Caufield only had 1 point in his first 5 playoff games sure but he was a threat. I’m not panicking, I think the big difference here is that Cole was also put in a better situation and ended up being a solid contributor during that run. I also acknowledged the fact he was older and had more games under his belt.

That being said, Demidov is supposed to be a franchise player according to most, and maybe it’s because I’ve never seen a prospect of such stature play for the habs before, but I was expecting him to drive his own line from the get go. Again, not freaking out, but just a bit disappointed he hasn’t stood out even a little bit in these two games which I however agree is mostly a question or circumstances.

Not "ever". If I recall correctly Connor McDavid has some pretty big billing and didn't get a point in his first 3 or 4 games.

Close enough. He had only 1 goal in his first 4 games, scored in his 3rd game. Had 2g 1a in his 5th game, which started the first typical McDavid tear, where he had 11pts in 7 games.

Drai had it worst. 2a in his first game and then not a single point in his next 8 games.

I can see him making things happen tonight a bit more. He almost looked like he was ready to make something happen.

But yeah definitely needs more strength and what not which is 100% understandable.

Either way this experience is invaluable for him.

Hed make things happen if MSL got his head out of his ass.
I’m afraid to ask where you want him 😂.

He should 100% should not be on the first line if that’s what you’re thinking. I like him with Heineman. Whom I’d start giving more minutes to one way or another.

Hopefully whomever swaps out for Laine can get us 4 lines but it’s doubtful

He should be on the first line and first PP.

1st PP I could see. That 1st line stays though. That line and the Dvo/Gally line stay. They’re at least making things happen. We need to get other lines going.

Demidov had tiny flashes but he sure as hell doesn’t look 1st line ready. Hope he can build some chemistry with Heineman

Anyone can make things happen with Suzuki.

I know the whole not broken dont fix it thing. Ill counter this with keeping a 92 Corolla when youre offered a brand new Volvo.

He had zero time to acclimate to the game and he's thrown into a rough playoff series against a much better team and we've saddled him with mediocre linemates. I wouldn't judge him by anything we see here. Anything he does is gravy.

Next year he'll have training camp to get ready and hopefully some better linemates to play with. I'm still very bullish on this guy. Next year I think he'll win the Calder. I expect nothing from him now.
